For a weekend without any particular plans, this one is getting pretty busy. Yesterday, we ended up accompanying @manujune to a rehearsal that was scheduled at a different place at the last minute. She did not know how to get to the Escuela Nacional de Música "Juan Manuel Olivarez" and neither did we, so we decided to take a taxi and explore that part of the city to find our way back by bus.
It was great and we got a few surprises (video at the end)
As it has become customary every time we split, we take pictures of her
And she takes pictures of us.
@manujune had to wait for her singing partner to arrive. She came some 15 minutes after us. My wife and I started walking up and down Las Palmas St. to see where we could get a bus to go back home. It was easier than we thought. We were just a few blocks from Av Andrés Bello, which we know around. We went back up the street. The piano teacher arrived forty five minutes late 😕
We ran into tiny tomatoe plants,
gorgeous roses
A stubborn palm three
And even a vuture perched in someone's Windows.
But, the greatest surprise was the guacamaya (macaw) perched on a hollow tree
We have been fascinated by the presence of these birds, whose natural habitat is the Amazon forests, in a city like Caracas.
Yet, they have multiplied and their calls, chatters and screeches can be heard everywhere in town.
Some neighborhoods are luckier than others and can have them nesting on the sidewalk.
Here's the video
After that amazing close encounters with a guaca, we kept walking to the end of the street.
When @manujune finished her rehearsals, we headed down to the bus stop.
Before that, they had some fun.with some streets dogs.
We gave them some food and left.
We had lunch late and thought we might just rest the test of the day, but my wife remembered that they had to work on a drawing for one of my nephew 's daughters.
They started working on that when my nephew's sister-in-law texted my wife to invite us to sing happy birthday to her daughters.
We thought it would be in their apartment, which is in the same complex, but it was at a restaurant nearby.
So, we ended up spending some there hours with them.
We drank a couple of beers, danced a little and just had fun.
Even this little one, who would rather play video games than socialize, gave dancing a try 😁
Cake, gelatine and quesillo, the typical Venezuelan birthday desserts.
Everything was delicious!
And we thought we would be going to bed early.
As they say here, the best times are those you do not plan.
Thanks for stopping by
This was my entry to @galenkp’s Weekend Engagement #265. I picked the fourth topic:
What are you doing this weekend and why?
