Greetings dear friends, today I join weekend-engagement: WEEK 159 writing topics, in which @galenkp proposes us several alternatives. I have chosen for this week the following option:
The board game
Post about a board game you like playing or games night you've had (Video games are not included in this topic - don't write about them.) Write a post of 300+ words and use photos that are your own where possible.
If we talk about board games, I tell you that during my childhood we had many, checkers, Chinese checkers, ludo, chess, cards, monopoly and puzzles, just to mention the ones I remember for now. As an adult I liked to play monopoly, a long game but a lot of fun as long as you don't go to jail or go broke. Ludo is another game that has no age and the whole family can participate. However, I have to admit that in most of these games only one member of the family can win and the game instead of cheering me up and distracting me I find it a bit stressful and that is not the idea.
It doesn't matter how long or short the game is, the important thing is that it makes us feel good and enjoy that moment. So, if I have to choose a board game that I like and still play, my favorite is jigsaw puzzles. It's a game that I can play alone and I have a lot of fun. When I feel stressed, it becomes my favorite therapist, because it relaxes me and motivates me to keep putting pieces together to reach the goal. I started with small puzzles, but then I increased the number until I set myself the challenge of putting together a 500-piece puzzle. Don't think I put it together the same day, impossible, it took me several days to put it together completely, in fact, I liked to photograph my progress until I saw all the pieces perfectly in place.
I like putting puzzles together because it relaxes me, there are no competitions to stress me out, besides, I can play it alone and at my own pace. I used to dedicate some time during the day to the puzzle, I didn't have a specific time, maybe a couple of hours and that way I would incorporate more and more pieces until I had it completely assembled, my great reward.
Putting puzzles together has many benefits, it stimulates the memory and improves the ability to concentrate, besides helping us to apply logic more quickly. Thanks to this game, both hemispheres of the brain work together. The benefits obtained are not only about scientific theories, you can check it when I set myself the goal to assemble the 500-piece puzzle, I began to notice that my cognitive abilities improved, which were reflected in my work performance with excellent results.
Now my challenge is to put together one of 1000 pieces, it has not been easy I must admit, I have chosen a solar system as a theme. To love this puzzle I need a very large space. For lack of time for now is stopped, I hope to resume it soon, I love it, for now, I just show you my progress.
Thanks for Reading
