Do you like reading or listening to stories about serial killers? The story of the serial killer is a topic that is a favorite of many people. We can easily find platforms or media that present stories about serial killers or investigations about serial killers, such as the Serial Killer Podcast on spotify, or some youtube story telling.
Serial murder cases often occur in big countries such as America, England or Japan. For example, the cases of Jack The Ripper, Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, or Takahiro Shirasi make us cringe when we read or listen to the chronology of the murders they committed. But In Indonesia, we also have some famous serial murder cases. One of the cases happened not far from where I live, namely the Serial Killer Case "Dukun AS / shaman Ahmad Suradji". Maybe for those of you fans of serial killer stories you have heard of this case, but I have childhood experiences related to this serial killer case. A naughty experience that should not be imitated.

This serial killer case occurred when I was 8-9 years old, this case was very horrendous in Indonesia at that time. This case began when, there were people who found a naked woman's body, and after being invested, she was named Dewi. When the police investigated the crime scene, it was found that there were 42 skeletons of women aged 20-40 years old, and this incident shocked the public at that time.
Me and some of my friends were excited about the case, we were still in elementary school and because every day the news was broadcasting the news we were curious and wanted to visit that location. At that time, the news was still broadcasting about the discovery of dozens of human skeletons and no suspects or perpetrators were found. The distance from the location of the murder and my house (and my friends too) is about 9 km, we decided to go directly to the location to watch there.
At that time, we were still children, innocent and curious children. We departed from the house by bicycle, my friend said the location where the body was found / murder was not far from his uncle. We used 7 bikes, and traveled like a convoy. I didn't ask my parents for permission, because I knew they wouldn't. My parents were very strict with me, especially for cycling on the highway with lots of cars. When I was a child, in the afternoon I had to go home and arrive home, if I wasn't home, I would be lectured for an hour.
The location where the bodies were found was in Sei Simayang Village, to get there it was actually very dangerous for children, because we passed a large road that was often passed by large trucks and buses. I rode the bike with great care and enthusiasm, occasionally tumbling with dread imagining if I had been caught going by bike this far.
I was surprised to see hundreds of people at the scene of the murder, even some people were selling drinks and food for the “tourists” who came. There seemed to be no fear or anxiety, even though at that time we witnessed the autopsy process and the search for human skeletons. My friend and I went to several locations where the bodies were found. If this had happened in today's era, surely everyone would have taken photos or made videos on location, but this happened in 1997.
Source description of the atmosphere and condition of the location where the body was found at that time
The location where the bodies were found was in a sugarcane plantation belonging to a state plantation company, and was found at several points. At that time we did not know the term serial killer, some gossip in the community linked this case to a sacrifice for black magic carried out by witches or shamans. The local community's assumption is correct, all of the female skeletons are victims of black magic practices carried out by a villager named Ahmad Suradji, who is also considered a shaman or sick person by the community. According to police statements, Ahmad Suradji killed 42 women and then took their saliva to obtain supernatural powers. What's the motive? He has a dream to commit 72 women's murders and takes their saliva in order to increase his supernatural powers.
Found Out
Unfortunately for me, I was accidentally spotted by one of my neighbors named Poniman. Just like us, it seems that he was also curious and visited the location where the body was found but he used a motorbike. We were reprimanded by the father, and he said he would complain to our parents because he rode a bicycle far away and crossed the highway. I was so scared and confused at that time, I can't imagine how angry my father was. Do you think? riding a bicycle on the highway for an 8-year-old child is sure to get scolded, let alone going to a place where a body is found (or a murder site)? I can't imagine the wrath of my parents at that time.
I was confused at that time, it felt like I didn't want to go home. However, my friend said to go home and apologize to his parents, he hoped that we would ride the bike faster than poniman's father so that parents did not have time to hear from other people. I arrived home, and it turned out that my father already knew what I was doing earlier. I was scolded for almost an hour, and was not allowed to go by bike for almost 3 months. When I grew up, I understood why my parents were angry. What I did was very dangerous and had a high risk of an accident.
To conclude, I have a unique fact about me and this shaman's case. For some reason, some things in my life have a wedge with this serial killer case. For example, when I was in high school I had a friend named Irfan. Irfan has an older brother named Andreas, Anderas is the one who took one of the murder victims named Dewi (the first body found, and revealed the case) to seek treatment at the shaman Ahmad Suradji (AS). He is a key witness, and for his services Andreas is now a police officer.
