The highlight of my week, last week - hiking at Mt Mago.
Last year, I was invited for a hiking activity in our company as part of our special interest club activity. Little did I know, it was the start of a wonderful journey with the mountains. I remember back then, my legs were always shaking towards the end of the hike, probably because of the uphill pressure. Now that I go to the gym, albeit occasionally, I made sure to strengthen my legs and gain muscles in my lower body.
Mount Mago
When our company's trailblazer club announced that there would be a hiking activity for the first time this year, I was so excited to sign up. Despite no longer being a member of the group (hello running club), I still pushed through.
I arrive in our meeting place, at our office pantry, around 3:30 AM. Call time was at 3 AM to eat breakfast before starting our journey to Mt Mago. The group prepared Jollibee rice meal for breakfast.
Mt Mago is located at Danao City, a two hour ride from our city. The sky was still too dark and I can't see anything from the windows so I just close my eyes and took a nap. I barely slept the night before, too excited for this trip.
It has been said that this mountain is the second easiest climb next to Osmena Peak. Unfortunately, rain started pouring when we arrived at Mt Mago so the slippery soil was a bit of a challenge.
This is a 100km mark used during a recent marathon from Cebu to Danao. Salute to people who joined the marathon. I can barely finish a 12 kilometer run.
Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable experience despite a few scratches in my legs and some other casualties.
