Change is inevitable and also the change in society have both positive and negative impact on the society. The advancement of technology have really changed a lot which I wish have not really change.
Loss of privacy
One of the thing that really changed that I wish have not is privacy. Privacy have become a thing of concern ever since the advancement of surveillance technology and the availability of internet in rampant. There are many things that people wish to keep private about their lives which internet does not permit.
People use the social media to share a lot of personal information that others are trying so hard to hide. For example, a lady was going on the road and unknown to her that her cloth was stain with her menses blood Instead of them to call her and tell her what is wrong, they started videoing it because they need something to catch fun on social media and never think of the embarrassment the lady will feel if she come across that particular video.
This have changed a lot of things and have caused a lot of harms to many people. There is a little to nothing like privacy since the existence of social media which I wish never happened.
Reduction in physical social interaction
We are in digital age and a lot have changed about the physical social interaction. Even though, the existence of social media have brought convenience and connectivity, it has also affected the personal relationship between family or friendship. I really wish the society have not become so dependant on virtual communication which have caused a lot of difficulties in people having a hearty relationship. People find it hard to express their emotions effectively.
It's been over three years that I've seen my immediate younger brother physically but we always do video calls on WhatsApp and on Facebook but it is nothing compared to me seen him physically because the video calls will not show me what I really want to see about him and we can't be saying everything on phone, there are some things that need to be face-to-face.
Materialistic
The rate at which people are focusing on possession of material things are becoming alarming. The society have been influence by the commercialization and consumerism which have increased significantly. Everything now is about money and even success is now defined monetarily.
It has cause environmental deterioration and people are no longer having personal satisfaction because of consumerism. There are lot of options to chose from which always caused incapable of being satisfied, examples are the latest gadget like phone. There iPhone 1 to 14 and other product like that which have promote unending consumption.
There are lot of things that have changed but let me stop here for now.
