"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”
-- Abraham Lincoln --
My electric bicycle
There are so many people in this world who do not even dream of driving a car, that if they had the opportunity to do so, the model would be insignificant. What matters is that it has four wheels, an engine and runs. I count myself among them. For now, I am happy with my electric bicycle, although I did not have the opportunity to choose the brand of my preference. Price imposed its dictatorial mandate. I don't want this to be interpreted as a complaint, I don't usually do that. I'm just stating a fact that is the reality for millions of other people right now.
“Eating” is not on the list of my pleasures. So I may have a hard time choosing a favorite food to eat for the rest of my life. But since we're asked to make a choice, I think I'd go with ice cream. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like ice cream.
The song I choose to listen to for the rest of my life could also be classified as the “best of the 80's”. The music from that decade is still playing. Since listening to the same song all the time might get boring, I'd better choose an entire album. It is ...But Seriously by Phil Collins, at that time I listened to it until I was tired and I go back to delight myself with his great songs whenever I want to listen to good music. But to comply with our host's request, I choose one song: I wish it Would Rain Down. Right now as I write these lines I am listening to it.
Getting involved in a street robbery can be dangerous. That is the reason why many will prefer to look the other way. I would need to go through that specific situation to know what my reaction would be. But I'll take this opportunity to tell you about an experience I had with a friend when I was young. It turns out that a lady slipped on the street and fell to the ground. In pain she cried out for help. Several people passed by her and walked on by, as if nothing was wrong. My friend and I helped her, called the emergency room and accompanied her to the hospital. The lady asked for a favor, because she needed someone to notify her family. This happened when cell phones did not yet exist. It turned out that she had broken her leg. The situation is not the same, but the reaction of those people who ignored the person in need I think serves as an example.
Among all the options in topic 3, I have no doubt that my choice would be to learn to play a musical instrument. That is my great frustration. In my youth I tried to learn to play the guitar, but my teacher at the time, after trying in vain to teach me, suggested that I forget about making music, as I had a “square” ear. To be able to play a clarinet would have been great for me.
I agree with @duskobgd's comment to answer the question about how good I am at having sex. I've never been complained to directly, but sex is a space where we people aren't always honest. We know how much it can hurt a partner's self-esteem if we were to always speak frankly, so sometimes, we make the decision to fake what doesn't really happen. Surely each one of us believes that we have no rival in the matter, but that does not count, because the recommendation comes from very close to us.
I have already said that among the best of the 80's is its music. I happened to be young in that decade and I enjoyed live the musical creations of that time. But it is precisely that stage of my life, my youth, which for me in particular, was the best thing that happened to me in those years. I did my university studies outside my country, and at that age, it was an unparalleled experience. Along with the academic subjects, I learned about life, which defined the human being I am today. I think I have come to idealize the decade of the 80's to such an extent that even the bad things that could have happened to me I consider it a learning experience. For that reason I think I will skip that part of the question.
To finish with the proposed topics, I tell you that I prefer to live in the countryside but not too far away from the city. We all know the advantages of living in the country, as we all know the advantages of living in the city. Since we cannot build a hybrid of the two, as they would no longer be what they are, I decide to live in the countryside and visit the city when I need to make use of its advantages.
So much for fulfilling the promise I made to create a collage with all the topic proposed this week. I felt if I chose only one topic, I would miss the opportunity to share my opinion on the others that I also found interesting. I hope not to break any rules with this participation of the Weekend-Engagement.
As always, I am grateful to all those who invested their time to go through my letters. Happy weekend to all.
