I am not eating meat since the beginning of this year but still, BBQ are one of my favourite moments of aggregation.
I usually bring some vegetables to cook myself or let the “master chef” cooking. When doing BBQ years ago, with tons of meat, when I was around I was always in charge of the cooking part. I loved it as the Master Cooker has always a full beer in hand as all the others are always very careful of his hydration.
Here was my first year in Reggio Calabria, in 2017, when I went to know Mary’s family. We had an amazing and huge BBQ in the forest, with top notch meat and homemade traditional food.
You can bet how much heat was coming from the fire as I was covered like a cleaner :D

Still, I remember like it was yesterday the quality of that great meal in nature!
Anyway, BBQs are not always to be done outside as when winter comes, it’s better to stay covered so, the good old chimney comes into force for the BBQ replacement

Here I was in Belluno with Mary at some friend’s place.
And here a great “inner BBQ” for Christmas Eve’s dinner, that in Reggio Calabria is used to be based on (a lot of fish).
Here some big shrimps

And here another occasion to grill, with “arrosticini” a typical dish from center of Italy, especially from Molise and Abruzzo, with meat made of sheep. You can see that the BBQ is specific for that application, as that meat is made long and thin.

Last but not least, my father-in-law BBQ, that he made out of a wheelbarrow. The last time we used it, was the last 26th December, as in Reggio Calabria there were more than 25 degrees under the sun and we were in t-shirt, during what should be “full winter”. But Southern Italy does not know and therefore it still acts like summer :D

I do not have much “partying pictures from BBQ” as I am not really the “picture man” since I usually prefer living moments instead of acting like paparazzi with people and food. Still, I can remember all the fun I had in all of these moments as I live BBQ as a great moment to aggregate, share, eat something different and usually, eat with different people!
