Good morning friends. Happy weekend. Every Friday, I wake up to find what #weekend-engagement topics are there to discuss. Many thanks to @galenkp for such a great initiative. And as promised, this weekend's topics were quite challenging. As I write, I am still stranded between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Alright, let me settle with this option
Option three: If you could swap
If you could swap gender, (male to female or female to male), for one year what benefits or negatives do you envisage, what challenges do you think you'd face and would you consider staying that way permanently, if so why? Is there anything in particular you'd like to do as the opposite gender?
As a man, swapping to become a woman is one choice I have never considered until I started writing this post. It now dawns on me to put myself in the place of a woman, my wife hahaha. One year is a long time to do a lot of things as a new emerging woman, twelve whole months.
I Would Wear Make-Up
Don't be surprised. I love the sight of women who wear neat and cutely fixed make-up. So, for the period, I would wear some charming colours of make-up on my nails 💅. If you know how I feel already🤣🤣.
Get Pregnant
Experience conception is one adventure I would like to get. Those early morning throw-ups and the change of the anatomy of the body is worth trying. Since pregnancy should last for nine months, let's see how I deal with it within this one year. You can see, I am already living in a woman's world.
Breastfeeding My Baby
I wonder why only women are wired to do this. I want to be able to do this likewise. Our paediatricians have advised that newborn babies be engaged in exclusive breastfeeding and this I want to do too as a woman.
Taking Over The Kitchen
I love cooking, no doubt. In one year, I will take over the kitchen and try out my recipes. It would be an opportunity to explore what my wife had not allowed me to practice as a man. 😂🤣🤣😂 Do you call that payback time? No, it's not. I just want to be able to explore my world as a woman.
Paparazzi and Selfies
On this, I am ready to get a Grammy Award. For all that will be done, from the pregnancy period to the breastfeeding, and kitchen, I will take a lot of shots at the camera. This will be in my archives and perhaps, a tourist gallery will be opened afterward.
I have heard people say women could be callous. Like one Reggae artist #LuckyDube sang in one of his songs titled " No woman, No cry".
If you asked me, I'd tell you that a virtuous woman is responsible and possible.
Love My Husband
I want to be able to love my "husband" passionately. During this period, we will have the fun of our lives. Every weekend, we will do a tour of the beach and sometimes eat out. As much as I love to eat homemade food, we shall time out to visit Domino Pizzas and the likes.
Envisaged Challenges
I have counted the cost of swapping to become a woman. It may be highly challenging but for the dough, I will do it 🤬. Some of the challenges I except are as follows:
Menstrual flow: I know it won't be an easy one here but having to pad myself up from stains would be very awkward. I want to use this medium to celebrate our women who have to undergo this routine every month.
House Chores: Taking charge of the home front is not an easy task. Having to do laundry, cooking, cleaning and whatnot will make this agenda more challenging for me.
Labour of Childbirth: I am aware that there is another way through which a baby can be born but the natural way for me is what I want to experience. The pain of having to push out the baby OMG!, that's gonna be something else.
Would I Like To Remain A Woman?
Like I said earlier, I have not considered this until now. While putting up this post, I found out that it is not easy being a woman.
Hence, one year will be enough for that experience 😢, after which I'd like to become a man again.
