Ah, Sunday!
After a long week of squeezing yourself out of every drop of productivity, Sunday is the time for relaxation and unwinding. Perhaps, a long night's sleep in the cosy bed followed by a movie is what many of us prefer this day. To make it more enjoyable, probably hanging out with friends in the afternoon or having a casual date with her with a delicious dish at lunch— ah, Sunday can be the perfect day of the week unless you are too lazy to do your chores timely during the whole week. I bet you can relate to that, lol!
Well, my weekend starts on Saturday and Sunday is the day I mourn for that Monday is just around the corner. How I hate Mondays— on a side note, without Mondays there might be no Saturdays or Sundays; kidding.
So, like many of you, this was my plan to do nothing at all this weekend except for enjoying a bunch of movies sitting on my device. Well, that definitely didn’t happen. Neither am I sensing a chance in the next 4-5 days even to watch one— I will be happy if I can manage time to write on Hive but that too might get postponed.
The reason?
Harvesting season has begun.
Actually, it began a week ago here in our part of the world, ours started today. Unfortunately, on the weekend!! My plan was ruined and all I had to do the whole day was do this, do that, and it continued. However, today was just a warm-up. From tomorrow, the full-scale harvesting will begin, and with it, working from dawn to dusk.

Usually, I am not required to participate in the harvesting chores, but I think it’s my responsibility to lend a hand when everyone in the house is working without intervals. So, driven by the self-urge to help my family, I worked alongside my family members. But my friend, dealing with the paddy field is not a kid’s work.
You have to endure pain stacking them in a row for processing and you may hurt your fingers doing that. The leaves have sharp edges and wound the skin fairly easily. On top of that, the dust in it creates allergic problems. If you are sensitive to dust, which I am, prepare for unstoppable sneezing. Luckily, I took preventive measures, including a mask and an anti-allergic tablet.
As mentioned earlier, this was just the warm-up session for tomorrow. The real deal starts tomorrow from early in the morning to hopefully, mid-afternoon or even evening— it depends on the manpower available and the volume of work. Regarding the volume of work, processing more than 1 acre of paddy field in a day is not a joke.
I don’t have a parameter to define the hardship you may have to endure to complete that task, but it will feed the family for the next 1 year. So, yeah, we must do it. Also, helping the family when needed feels divine. I am happy to see their hardship reduced to half for my contribution.
But, didn’t I have another plan for the weekend, hahaha! I think you can guess how my weekend went, right?
