For my kids, the weekend is synonymous with the beach and if you live on an island, even more so, and if your home is just a few blocks away from the beach, there is no escape! So of course, we went to the beach!

Many times I think about that crazy desire we have to be grown up when we are children, and then when we are adults we would like to turn back time and go back to those days when our only worry was that it wouldn't rain so we could go out and play in the yard or in the garden!
And I must confess that sometimes it drives me crazy that my kids don't understand the amount of responsibilities we have every day and they constantly ask, "can we go to the beach?? " and even though sometimes I come out with answers like "you only think about playing? ". I immediately realize that yes, they are kids and they only think about playing, having fun and having a good time and I sincerely wish it would be like that for many years to come. The time will come for them to worry, so I want them to enjoy their childhood as much as possible, even if I have to put aside my adult responsibilities.
And that's just what I did and I surprised them with a "do you want to go to the beach? " and immediately and without much thought a strong "YES " came from their lips and without asking which beach they were going to, they went out to change and put on their bathing suits and in a few minutes we went out with them to "Puerto Abajo ", one of the beaches closest to our house and where my husband and I are walking every morning.

This small fishermen's beach has a beautiful inlet where I used to go with one of my aunts when we came on vacation to the island and it was chosen by her, since it was an inlet with practically no waves, just what she needed to go with so many children, and she would go alone with about eleven children. Two of them were hers and the rest were all nieces and nephews, so she really needed a safe beach.
I really loved it because I was afraid of the waves, so I could swim happily without worrying about a crazy wave swallowing me up!!! And since today I wanted to be able to sit quietly and enjoy the sea without worrying about the waves and the kids, that was our choice!

When we left home the sun was spectacular, but a few minutes after arriving at the beach the sky was cloudy and completely hid the sun and added to that the water was freezing, the children at first refused to enter, but little by little between games they ended up entering, but undoubtedly the one who enjoyed the most was Miranda!
She was fascinated with being able to sit inside the sea without a wave hitting her face and despite being cold from the moment she entered, she didn't get out until it was time to go home. Matias, who is already a teenager, was not very happy about the lack of waves and the small amount of beach to enjoy, as he likes to run his wings with the board and play soccer in the sand, but on this beach neither one nor the other!
Anyway, of course she went into the sea and even though it was not what she expected, she enjoyed it in her own way, so she invited her dad to walk along the beach and I, while Miranda was bathing, took the opportunity to take some pictures because it had been a long time since I had been near the cove.

Unfortunately I must say that it is a little neglected and the truth is that I remembered it bigger, but the natural beauty of this place is incredible despite the conditions it is in. I walked over the rocks to take some pictures and of course to remember those times of my childhood and after a few steps I realized that I had forgotten one very important thing and that is that I should have worn my sandals because the surface of the rocks is very irregular, very sharp and they hurt my feet a lot!
I was laughing my head off because both going forward and coming back represented a bit of pain and for a few minutes I decided to sit down and wait! Finally I went back because the further I went the more I had to walk to get back to the sand!
The kids laughed at me when they saw me trying to dodge the sharpest rocks, but I finally made it to the sand and got some beautiful pictures, so the adventure was worth it.
And as the cold was a bit crazy we went back home earlier than we expected, but happy to have spent a different afternoon in a place with beautiful memories for me and creating new ones, now with my children.
Have a great weekend. Kisses and blessings!
