Today, I embarked on a journey to a café for my weekend engagement post that galenkp hosts every week. He said he would prefer one that we went to this weekend so that's exactly what I did.
Firstly, I had to research what café I wanted to go to. I found a café near my house from google called Fujiwara Tofu Shop Malaysia. This café was interesting because it was inspired by the Initial D anime. For those that don't know, Initial D was an anime about street racing. This shop is also only open from Friday-Sunday. After the research and seeing the impressive reviews I decided to give this place a try.
Surprisingly, this café was super near my house. It was only about a ten minute walk for me. Even though it was 10 minutes I was feeling a bit sweaty since that's just how the weather is in Malaysia. Please now that you know where I live don't find me.
I finally arrived at Fujiwara Tofu Shop Malaysia after a ten minute walk. Something noticeable on the outside was their Japanese patrol pump and Japanese style table and chairs next to it that I think was made to replicate the anime if I was not wrong. I also believe the bicycle had something to do with the anime but I could be wrong.
As I came in, it seemed a bit busy since it was lunch peak hours. It wasn't packed but it was fairly busy. As you can see from the photos below, they have seats made out of driver seats which I thought was interesting. You can actually even play the arcade game based on the Intial D anime. From the looks of it, there was only one game machine working but I assume the games were compatible and you could race against others. They even have a red Japanese car there which I didn't get a close enough picture. To be honest, I'm quite shy and I went here by myself so personally I felt awkward if I just went around taking pictures but that's just me so apologies for the poor photos.
I was told to go to the second floor and get seated. It was well decorated. They had pages of the manga on the wall and some decorations on the other side of the wall with photos and frames which I was unable to take a photo of because there were people seated there. They also had small toy car collection in a case for display. You may notice that they have a small television there showing the Initial D anime with English subs for people to watch if they were interested.
I liked how the menu was quite simple. It fit everything in one page - front and back. One side gave a description about what their shop is about with the beverage and desserts. The other side had the main and side dishes. Something to notice though is the prices seemed a bit pricier than the typical café in my opinion. I believe this is due to being open only on weekend but the place is a bit in the middle of nowhere so I don't think the rental should be too high either.
I was craving salmon so I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon Don which came with miso soup. I also ordered ice green tea as a drink because I love green tea and it's the drink I usually get if I go into any Korean/Japanese restaurant. I had to also get the Tofufa with soymilk. It's a tofu shop so I had to get what their signature food was. For those that don't know Tofufa is a tofu custard or I guess you could call it tofu pudding. Other than that I'm not sure how to describe but it was super delicious. The salmon was on point too. I loved the teriyaki sauce and the two japanese style eggs that came along with it. The food was super yummy and I was super full by the time I finished.
The damage came out to be RM47.19 which is around 10.25 USD. It was a bit pricy but I believe it was worth it for the experience and the food was good too.
To conclude if you're in Malaysia and you like Initial D or tofufa or just want to find a new cafe to try. You should give Fujiwara Tofu Shop Malaysia a shot. It's truly a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere.
