Beautiful and ready for a different Sunday
A different kind of Sunday
Hello friends, happy Wednesday, today I want to tell you about a walk around my community as part of the festive activities for the anniversary of its creation.
It was held last Sunday and I went in the company of my aunt Martina, we found out about this walk days before by advertising, which was spread on social networks and the invitation by megaphones, so we signed up in time, participation was free and would give prizes for the first places a T-shirts allusive to the event.
Among the activities were a 7 km walk, a 14 km run and a dance therapy to close the event. We signed up for the walk with the intention of recreating ourselves and spending a different weekend, my aunt who is special with Down syndrome does not leave the house alone so whenever I can I take her out to the street to change the environment and share with other people, socialising is essential to maintain our health and wellbeing and she needs it more than anyone else because she helps me at home with the care of my grandmother.
Taking my aunt out for a walk, even if it was just through the neighbourhood was my main motivation to participate, but also because of the route that said it would go through the viewpoint and it is an area that I don't know, I lived here for 10 years during my childhood and I returned 3 years ago and I don't know many parts of the neighbourhood, from the viewpoint you can see the Taiguaiguai lagoon and the view is beautiful that's why I was very enthusiastic to participate.
We woke up early at 6 am we had breakfast and at 7 am we were already at the meeting place, there were many people even from other communities, my aunt was very excited and wanted to have her number quickly, which was hard to get because it was not as organised as I thought, many people were left without a number but still participated.
On the route there were people of all ages, we went first, but we ended up last 🤭 because we walked at the pace of my aunt who is small and her pace is getting slower and slower, so we arrived with people of the elderly, but in reality they were the most lively and fun.
We walked first through the flatter streets and then we had to climb some elevated streets at the height of the hill, I was surprised to see corn fields in these areas, to my disappointment we did not reach the viewpoint, my group followed the route, but apparently we passed close and we were not going to get to it 🥴😔 so I was left with the curiosity, that task is pending for another weekend of walking.
The whole walk took us an hour and it was more fun than I thought, when we were reaching the finish line about half a block away I tell the people who were near us that we were the last ones because we were being escorted by the police and civil defence workers who are the security agencies that supported the event, so I suggested joining more to share the achievement 😁 and my aunt excited to see so many people at the finish line began to run.
That was her moment of glory, while she was running everyone was clapping and shouting encouragement, while I was walking with anxiety thinking that she could fall, thank God she didn't and she arrived like a champion shaking hands with everyone who was waiting for her while she was running. When we arrived they gave us bananas and medals for participating.
When I arrived many people I knew started to make jokes saying that my aunt had beaten me, 😆 after that we continued the party and ended up dancing with the dance therapy, it was a very special Sunday and a very special walk and I am happy to see my aunt happy.
