This past weekend was all about new beginnings for me.
I am not going to talk so much about what I have being going through of late as I have done enough of that this past few days.
I have had the most appalling net connection for so long, it has really interfered with the plans I have. To remedy this, quite sometime ago I got a new PC, it was custom built, spending money that was not really available for such a 'frivolous' purchase...
It wasn't frivolous of course, plans need quality investment to come to fruition but the money still wasn't 'really' available for this purchase.
Sadly, not too long after, I still had pretty severe issues... After going back to the drawing board, I changed my broadband plan, bought a new router and got back to work...
Things felt FAST and useful for a while but the familiar dropping and freezing struck again...
So much for blue sky thinking... I was back to seeing this:
So I sprung back in to action. I now 'apparently' have the best domestic broadband that is on offer in the UK. Wow! I could certainly feel the lightning fast speeds that were promised...
Until...
Yeah, you guessed correctly!
I was furious, exasperated and honestly, felt quite upset as I had things I wanted to achieve, that involved being reliably hooked up to the so called, world wide web, the information super highway (where did those terms go to???)
Now and to cut a long story very short... A device that cost me less than £15 SOLVED EVERYTHING!!!
Oh man, I could not believe it. I had it's predecessor checked in a PC repair shop and they said it was working as expected... They were wrong! In fairness, I now know, it was because the problem was intermittent, rather like the effect caused by a loose wire.
Despite the problematic relationship between me and my tech [this is not a new phenomenon, it is one of the ever-present hallmarks of my life...] I chose to focus on the fact that I should now be unstoppable.
Although, once I thought about it... I have plans to write daily, I know how to monetise this writing. honestly I have had these desires for quite some time. This writing is not only for Hive. I would like to hone my skills, learn to say more with less, yeah, I know what you're thinking... Me, NEVER!
My setup is not exactly conducive to these plans though, my desk wobbles left and right like a dinghy in a storm and my old computer chair, a gaming chair, doesn't offer the support these old joints need. (these thoughts were before the weekend...)
You know where this is heading.
Funds are tight these days, however, I have a credit card that has no outstanding debt, so off we went to our local Scandinavian flatpack furniture store... When I say local, it is about 55 minutes away but the decimation of the high street makes certain items difficult to find.
Out with the old...
Every cupboard, shelf, corner even the loft has been emptied and in excess of 35 bags of either rubbish or charity shop donations were removed from hoardville, which is clearly what our home had become.
This is SERIOUS!
I need a streamlined space to work from. I need a clutter free home, Ia think that will lead to a clutter-free head... we shall see, right?
I'm talking about treating my endeavours as a business, in the beginning, it may not be, but if I treat it as though it is, I can develop some serious habits and fundamentals that will help me move forward at speed.
As I have mentioned before, I LOVE the idea of making video content. I think it will allow me to cover more ground and go deeper on topics of interest without 10,000 words.
Although if truth be told, I will probably talk just as long as I write! 😩
Of course, I will document everything I do to regarding my writing and video monetisation efforts. I want this to be my permanent, full time income generating avenue.
Although I do have a few cool, interesting things I want to try out when it comes to making money from home, which in turn will become a video or a post, or maybe even both.
I have wondered, (like you may be thinking...) am I creating all of these jobs and areas to improve in my home toavoid taking action because I am secretly terrified of striking out towards something new?
Time will tell, right? Although I am wanting to begin in the next few weeks ,so it will be apparent if I am hiding from the way forward pretty quickly.
Let me assure you, if I pass on any tips on how to avoid mistakes, earn money,succeed in something more fulfilling, they will be real tips from a very real, normal person.
Consider the fact I am a bit of a technophobe, not exactly overbrimming with self confidence and incredibly likely to be out of my depth.
BUT...
Before you place your bets, understand that I will watch, read and listen to everyhting I need to in order to give myself a fighting chance.
Well once out with old is achieved, the next step is obvious, right?
In with the new! (If I can work out how to line these screwholes up!)
That is a story I am going to have to tell in the coming days, because that story is still unfloding. The amount of stuff we sorted through, binned or donated at the weekend set these events in motion though and was an amazing catalyst for change that I need right now.
