For Christmas from my wife, I got a "date night" where Smallsteps is spending the evening at her aunt's place, and we went out for a meal. As normal, since we don't go out that often, we tried somewhere we haven't been before and perhaps as usual also, we were both disappointed. I have said the last few times that I don't really enjoy going out to dinner anymore, but she keeps persisting. It is not going out with her I don't enjoy, it is the poor service, and the terrible value for what is generally a "nothing special" meal. We paid for "the view" at tonight's place, but really, the view isn't much to write home about from anywhere in this town.

My wife was trying to order a "little light choking".
The restaurant décor was nice enough, but the service was almost non-existent. I won't go into it in any detail, but when the guy couldn't be bothered to bring us the wine list, I didn't have high hopes. And then when "dessert" came, it was 14€ for a half mouthful. And this place wasn't anything fancy.
I had a burger. 25€ - just the burger.
It annoys me.
So, view or no view, this is a no-go* on my list for the future. And hopefully, that future will not be going out to any restaurants on a date night, because it is just a waste on me these days. I would rather do something else.
Like darts!

While I don't actually play darts, I am okay at throwing things, so this was a bit of fun. Neither my wife nor I know the rules, but this new place had some electronic boards with interactive screens that had several different kinds of games we could play, without actually having to know anything, other than in which direction to throw the dart.
A couple years ago, my wife and I went to play pool together and after about ten minutes, she said "play properly" as she is competitive, and then got mad because she couldn't win. This went better than that, because she won a few rounds of darts, because unlike when professionals play., when we play, the outcomes have a lot of "random variation" in them - because we both suck at it. Though towards the end, we were also both much improved, but not that much.
For people who like to throw things, this I can recommend.
Unfortunately, after dinner my wife started to feel ill and then by the time we got home, she was quite sick with a reaction to the food. Not the restaurant's fault in this case, though I feel they should take some of the blame anyway. Still, it put a dampener on the night and as the psychology goes, a good event should end on a high note. Not to be tonight though, we just watched a random TV show.
And my wife went to bed.
And that is the night over.
