This weekend we want to share with you a few photographs we took while visiting the wineyards and meeting winemakers from Brda region in the western part of Slovenia.
Considering that this country is very small, it still consists of mountains, hills, fields, thick forests and even seaside. It's not hard to predict that the hilly areas are used for growing fruit trees and wineyards.
The area was fully busy and all the farmers were preparing to the best time of the year - Autumn and with it the harvest time!
The people in the area are very welcoming and warm. They were very happy to show us around their property and into their cellar with wooden and aluminum barrels. With lots of enthusiasm they were explainging us the full process on how they are growing grapes and later turning them into the wine, vinegar or tasty juice.
We were invited to their tasting room thata they build themselves and prepare some delicious homemade cold cuts. If course it didn't go by without having a proper wine degustation trying all their finest wines. Many of them were rewarded and earned a medal. Specially we liked the white wines which were fresh and fruity in the taste.
The family is running this business very well. If the season is good they also sell their fresh fruit.
Happy and full of wine aromas we left the pleasent social evening full of new knowledge and happy bellies!
