I have to make the right decisions for them, NOW
Hello everyone
The weekend is here and we decided to take a drive to a fantastic place, not so well known by tourists, where we are sure to enjoy the beauty of nature and peace and quiet to disconnect a bit from the daily hustle and bustle.
So we took the car and set off, the distance to our destination was not very long, about 50 kilometers, on country roads, we took our time and admired the beauty of nature, the road took us through wheat fields, the perfect recipe for a perfect weekend.
At one point we stop at a level crossing with the railway because a freight train was passing, nothing special, we continue our way not very long to our destination, when I look more closely through the windshield of the car I see in the distance a car that had entered a tree on the side of the road, from the front of the car I saw that smoke was coming out.
I accelerated immediately to get there as quickly as possible, in a few minutes I was already next to the car stuck in the tree.
Ever since I first saw the car I told my wife to call the single emergency number and she kept telling me we had no signal, I tried both mobile phones, zero signal.
As the only person on the scene, I had to concentrate extremely quickly and assess the situation of those inside and the source of the smoke (so that the car didn't catch fire), as any loss of time could be fatal to those inside.
So I quickly approached the car to see how many passengers were in the car, on first assessment I found the driver of the car, unconscious, trapped under the dashboard of the car, he was not wearing a seatbelt, I tried to take his pulse, unfortunately he was not, I went to the other side of the car where I found a female person in the front right side, conscious, but with a seatbelt on, but there was another female person in the back of the car, who self-evacuated, no injuries.
I had a knife in the car, I thought I'd take the knife to cut the front right passenger's seatbelt.
Time was pressing on me like a huge weight, my thought was of the driver of the car who was trapped under the dashboard of the car, I didn't have any tools with me to remove the twisted iron.
Quickly I go to the front of the car, what was left of it, and barely manage to see the car battery, with the help of a patent I had in the car I manage to disconnect the battery wires to avoid a possible fire, but I was still tied up in the driver's rescue.
I told my wife to step away with the two passengers in the car and give them a little advice so they wouldn't panic and have further complications.
Mobile phones were still without signal.
Strange, we've been here for about ten minutes and no cars have passed by, no phone signal, no other traffic participants, what can I do.
I turn back to the front passenger, take his pulse again, he had no pulse, I look more closely around the car and without any explanation I look in the rear view mirror and see the SOS button activated (it was red), suddenly I see my face and realize that the car model was a new one that had the SOS button set to call the single emergency number in case of an accident, I thought, God, I hope the system works, I hope it at least works.
In just a few moments I started to hear the sirens of the emergency services, when they arrived at the scene, I first contacted the crew chief and told him the situation at the scene, in the meantime the emergency services started rescue procedures and the paramedics were also in the car trying to do something for the driver (CPR).
Apparently their resuscitation maneuvers were successful for the driver, to their aid the emergency helicopter was called to transport the victim to the hospital as quickly as possible, apparently he needed emergency intervention.
I had to stay at the scene until the police had finished doing all the investigation at the scene, I was the only witness to the accident, I had the only information about how many passengers were in the car.
It seems my relaxing day turned into a race against time to save people, I'm glad I managed to do something for them, but I have to get back from the road because it was already late, so the relaxing weekend will be postponed for another time.
