Let's taste the real world, but without the mobile phone
Write to be understood, speak to be heard, read to grow- Lawrence Clark Powel
Hello everyone
Look, we're almost at the end of the week and we're already thinking about what we're going to do these days, in fact, I think many of us have already made our plans.
Going through all three of this weekend's writing prompts, one of them managed to stir up precious memories for me, so I didn't dwell too long and chose to elaborate a bit on the situation of spending a weekend without a mobile phone.
Considering that we live in the digital age it is clear and simple that going without a mobile phone would probably be a disaster for me (at least during the week).
Indeed experimenting a few days without a mobile phone could be an experiment from which we can really learn a lot.
But before we move on I want to tell you a story.
Thinking about the above brought back memories of my childhood, yes, I go back more than 25-26 years ago when I was in early high school, gosh what a time.
I also remember very well the first days of school when some of my classmates came to school with mobile phones and I looked like a wonder (my classmates' parents were very rich, out of 27 children in the class there were 3 classmates who had mobile phones), you can imagine that at that time we didn't have access to information and the phones were not very powerful at all.
As far as I remember, my first mobile phone was given to me as a gift by my parents in my last year of high school (the main condition that my parents put for me to receive this mobile phone was to have good results in my studies), at that time I really needed it to communicate with other colleagues about the exams we were going to have at the end of high school, I know that here, in Romania, the education system is a bit strange compared to other education systems in other parts of the world.
Look in those days I managed to go without a mobile phone for years, in fact I almost didn't know what a mobile phone looked like, without complaining that I didn't have internet or that some social media program didn't work.
I will attach to this post pictures of the second mobile phone I had, it is very old it has buttons even an external antenna, I am curious if there are among you people who had such a phone model.
Even if I had this model of phone I didn't spend a lot of time talking on it, I used it only when I strictly needed it otherwise it was abandoned somewhere on a table.
But now let's go back to the present when we already have access to a lot of mobile phone models, technology has advanced so much that less and less mobile phones will also make food, now I'm joking a little.
For example, for me personally to be without access to my mobile phone would be a disaster, I am so attached to this mobile phone that my mornings start by looking at my wife and then I look at my mobile phone.
By the time I get to work I already write a few messages, make a few appointments, check my emails and even send a few plus it's much easier for me to talk on the phone than to write messages, especially since I drive to work and here in Romania it's forbidden to use the phone while driving (I've been stopped a few times by police officers because they caught me talking on the phone).
I have so much on my mind that the daily diary I have on my phone is almost full, plus I have notes in my diary for two weeks ahead.
I don't work weekends so not using my phone these days could be a test of my addiction to this device.
The answer is very simple even if they don't work weekends and can't abandon their phone in a drawer.
Why can't I do that?
First of all, I am part of the team of volunteers for emergency situations in my community, and when an unpleasant event occurs, I am the first person to be called in these cases, after which I give the alarm further to the volunteers for emergency situations, after which in the shortest possible time we have to intervene in any situation.
That's why I can't give up my mobile phone when I'm on holiday or when I'm in the bathroom, at all times I have to be on the other end of the line, some people's lives may depend on me.
Dear visitors, that's about all I had to say about this weekend's writing.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone, and the text is also designed by me.
