It's in resilience, authenticity, empathy, kindness and hard work that I've come to see the role model in me.
I never imagined there would come a day when someone, outside of family, would look up to me. A stranger, a friend of a friend, someone watching from a distance. That's when I realized something powerful; who we are and how we move through life matters, even to people we don't know are watching.
I've fallen many times. I have dusted myself off just as many and tried again. I've poured into others, sometimes to the point of forgetting myself. But I've to understand that; resilience isn't about perfection. It's about choosing to keep moving forward, even after the falls, even when you're tired, even when you feel broken.
I have been hurt; especially by love. Hurt to the point where I almost gave up on it all together.
But somewhere in that mess, I found me. I learned to stop pretending. To stop selling lies to myself about who I should be, and instead embrace who I already am. I've learned to love each version of me; the past me, the current me and the future me. And that love? That self acceptance? It brings me peace. A peace I carry with me, and I think people feel it when I walk into a room or simply when I'm just..being me.
Empathy has always come natural to me. I've felt it since I was a child. This deep, aching need to connect, to help, to understand. Whether it's a friend, a stranger, or someone halfway across the world, I've always carried their pain like it's my own. My empathetic nature guards me against looking down on people. And while it can feel heavy, especially when I can't do anything about it, it's taught me to be kind. Kind not just to those who are obviously struggling, but to everyone. Because sometimes, the strongest people are the ones who hiding the most.
Someone once asked me, "How do you do what you do? Don't you get tired?"
No, I don't. Because working for what I want, gives me a joy I can't explain. It's not even in the results, but it's the thrill of the grind. I have tried the open-palm way, waiting, hoping, but I'd choose the hustle every time. There's a quiet kind of respect in knowing you earned what you have.
I'm not perfect. I don't have it all figured out. But if someone sees something in me that inspires them, then maybe I'm doing something right.
