Today, I am joining the #weekend-engagement with the following topic:
🔅My favourite holiday🔅
If I look back at all my travels, It is kinda hard to pick a trip which is truly my favourite, so I would rather like to call this experience one of my favorites, but I am still able to say that it was one of the most special moments of my life, the moment I got to dive with Tiger Sharks in fuvahmulah, Maldives!
Maldives is one of the best places in the entire world to dive with sharks, with Fuvahmulah Island as a dream destination due to the tigersharks which are always around and easy to spot, since they get fed in the harbour.
I went to Fuvahmulah island with the budget cruise I booked (okay, it was a cargo ship). And I got hosted by some beautiful people from Couchsurfing, who showed me Maldivian life on the islands and its beautiful beaches.
But the highlight was definitely this dive! We dived in and we saw the sharks appearing within minutes, and they were so big! They would swim straight towards me, to swim just above my head, less than a meter away. They moved so slow and gentle, it was exciting and so special! I wish I could only describe how it felt. It was amazing to be so close to such a majestic animal!
One thing that scared me a bit was the current in the sea, which made me hold on to a rock. I was scared that the current would push me against a shark, I don't think they would have appreciated that! But the Maldivians told me there isn't any known shark attack here in the Maldives so far, except some fisherman in the past, who tried to catch a shark and pull him on tje boat. That is asking for problems. Sharks are not as mean as people often think.
Would you dare to dive with sharks?
