Hoist the colours, proud fiction writers!
We, @tristancarax and @marcoriccardi, like to thank all the participants for this 69th week of Finish the Story, revamped!
We had five enthusiastic storytellers who participated with great skill and sense of humor, following a wild, freewritish, bananafishy prompt concocted by maestro Tristan Carax.
So, we proved one thing:
This does not mean that we will do it often, because time is running out, but that every now and then we could revive this tradition!
Our Contestants
#1. @mgaft1
This story was important because it is the first entry for Finish the Story in almost a year now! It was like redrawing the path for the other participants.
Furthermore, there are some terrible prehistoric beasts, reminding us that even in the world of emus there is an all too human tendency to lose control of one's actions... and uncontrolled escalation leads to disaster!
#2. @carolkean
Not only was this story a hilarious conclusion to an equally hilarious beginning, keeping the tragicomic and surreal tone in full, but Carol also gave us a series of insights into Australian zoology and entomology, turning a divertissement into something truly instructive.
#3. @owasco
How could I define this story ending in which a jumble of characters appears to accompany the already bizarre image of four emus in a fast food restaurant? Rattlesnakes (real or alleged), Hitchcock crows and a very ecumenical and almost "holy" Butch Cassidy ... there is the taste of a true freewrite and bananafish madness flows copiously in an inter-species message of peace.
#4. @morey-lezama
Instead of an ending, we have a prequel here, yet there is a sense of recursion.
This "brotherhood" of emu certainly does not learn from their mistakes. To err is human, to persevere is ... "emuical"!
However, there is some truth in the fact that curiosity and hunger can push you to take a lot of risks, for the enjoyment of us readers.
#5. @raj808
The cows stamped the dust up as their chanting rose to a moo-ving crescendo.
Thus begins the masterful Rowan. The genius also passes through lexical puns, if it serves to write another prequel (maybe we should change the name of the contest?), in which the animals decide that it is time to implement what they have evidently read in Orwell, even if there are several problems ... what to do when food speaks to you?
The Winners
1st PLACE - 7 STEEM: @carolkean!
The judges comment:
"For me, it is a toss up between raj808 and carolkean for first place. I think these two stories captured really well the spirit of fun I had written with." (@tristancarax)
"I think Rowan (Raj808) is an accomplished writer, but Carol was the first to come with the idea of the caterpillar, that Rowan borrowed later...so I think we should reward Carol" (@marcoriccardi)
BEST COMMENT(S) - 2 HIVE SBI: @owasco
The added (s) is for the reason that the comments are more than one, in fact they are very encouraging comments and full of enthusiasm for the other participants.
MOST VOTED STORY - 5 HIVE SBI: - Well, perhaps nobody wanted the burden of the choice, or make differences between friends...the fact is that we did not have votes, so we will divide the prize among the participants not awarded in any other way, and to round up, we raise to 6 SBI (2 each): @mgaft1, @raj808, @morey-lezama
Congratulations to all, and see you next time!
...by the way, tomorrow there will be a Mizu no Oto, if you want to try your hand at haiku 😉
