How could he have done that? She had believed him with no doubt, listened to every word he said, heck! He had asked her to go when she told him about her mom’s situation, he had even asked her not to write a letter that he’d cover up for her but she had written a letter of urgency anyways.
Drawing her hair in a painful gasp, Jasmine sighed, holding back the tears that were about to break free.
He had told her the meeting was rescheduled for next week, that she shouldn’t worry as she had worked hard and she'd get the position, the position she had worked her ass out for years, unrelenting, having a sleepless nights in making sure every presentation given goes well.
And then Angela a colleague of theirs had called, saying the meeting had started and asked where she was… she had smiled and told her that the meeting was rescheduled but alas! It was true that it wasn’t.
She had called Mason to question why he hadn’t called her but he didn’t pick up, sighing she had understood he might have been busy setting things right as the meeting taking place could have surprised him also.
Not until she was called again, the call that had made anger surge through her vein and revenge clawed up her nerves to be let free.

Jasmine had killer eyes on her as she recalled the conversation which had taken place hours ago, her mind had been trying to digest the information heard. Suzy had been given the position she had toiled for, the same fake manicured saucy Suzy who had come to the organization 3 years ago while this year would make hers 8 years. The same Suzy who is lazy and has no respect for anyone, though she is a beauty she had to admit, for fuck sake she is a beauty with no brain, how she got to be employed was bizarre to her as she would have worked well being a model not an employee for an industrial company.
Traitorous tears slipped past her cheek and she cleaned it off almost immediately, staring at the woman beside her who had been connected to wires for 4 years. After her father's death years back, her mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor 4 years ago which fueled her energy to attain the post of General manager not just for her mother but also for her brother who gained admission last two years. As the breadwinner of the family, she had a lot of bills on her neck to be paid and her recent position won’t get the bills paid.
Recalling what the doctor had said about her mother’s urgent need to be operated on, she stood up from her seat, kissed her mom goodbye, and walked out as she waved the nurses goodbye. She had taken the next available train and had gone directly to Mason's house to be sure of what she had heard.
She had gotten to his apartment late at 20 minutes past 10 and he had let her in, and when she had confronted him, he had promised she would get it next time, telling her how she needs to understand Suzy went to the best school in the country and was for fit the job.
She had walked out on him after many threats but he had smiled saying she had no proof to confirm she had worked hard for the presentation, she felt anger surge through her and her soul yearns for revenge.
On getting to work the next day, she greeted everyone and had gone to search for Mason's P. A and she was told she left 2 days ago which was the same day she had gone to meet her mom.
Days went by as she tried getting in touch with Mason’s P. A with no avail, her number had been unreachable and her apartment cleared out.
As fate would be on her side, she got her call from an unknown number who happens to be Mason's P.A, he had threatened to kill her when she confronted him on how he gives people who are unworthy positions. She had fled to save herself, I was happy she was saved and we both met up to find out how to get back at Mason, as luck will be on our side, we found one of the mail he sent to her threatening her life if she tried anything funny, with great joy and satisfaction, we planned on the day to get back at him.
As luck would abide with us, the C.E.O visited and called a meeting, I quickly called Mason's P. A to come over and we were able to spill the beans and brought out proof when he tried to deny, just then others spoke out too on how he had collected fees from them even after they'd worked hard to attain the given post.
While others bowed their head in shame saying they had paid him to award them posts others had worked hard for, Suzy on the other hand walked off like a peacock would throwing off her work I.D after she had been told she didn’t deserve the post of the General Manager. The security men were called in and Mason was driven to the station for the threat to one's life.
“I guess the post is back to you” the boss had uttered.
Shaking my head I replied, “I have been so hungry to attain this position that I didn’t take note of what others were going through, I am part of the HR team and was supposed to know all these happenings, I don’t deserve to manage this organization.”
Sighing, he replied, “That is why I am giving you the position you had worked hard for, to be able to address the mistake made, re-unite the people and make this place a peaceful working place as it once was.
Raising my head, I felt newfound electricity of hunger surge through me, not the one of food, cloth, or shelter, but the one willing to accept the position I had toiled for years and reclaim the air of unity which had been lost amongst us.
