Well for me, the surprise I got didn't end up well. It wasn't intentional because I was very little and phones weren't available like they are now. After reading, you are definitely going to learn and laugh a lot from this.
It happened when my dad came back for the first time from overseas, it was actually supposed to be a surprise but it turned out to be a disaster. I was around 3 years when he left the country which i don't know how my dad looks and I am not to be blamed for that.
On that beautiful morning, my mom told us she is going to meet my dad at the airport but we could not go with her. Skipping school wasn't an option because he wouldn't like it and we can actually see each other when we get home. I was so excited that I was going to see my dad after many years cause at that time, I was like 7 years old. We had no picture of him in the house and my mom didn't show me any of his pictures but I know my dad is dark in complexion and he barbs afro but their thousands of people that look that way.
Later that day, it was around noon when they both got back and my dad missed his boys so much that he couldn't wait for them to get back from school. He and my mom came to the school first to come to see us and the mistake he did was to have left my mom where she was buying something, he came into the school earlier than her. The instant he set foot in the school compound and my elder brother saw him, he just shouted, ''Adedapo that's daddy'' and I responded, "that's not our dad, he is a kidnapper".
He didn't listen to me and he rushed down with his hands open to meet him. Out of fear, I shouted at top of my voice Kidnappers! Kidnappers!! and the whole school was alarmed.
He called me by my nickname which only my family knows and told me to come but I still didn't answer and was crying that he would take my brother away.
Before you know it, things got messy and everybody was panicking. My mom heard the noise where she was getting something and she rushed inside the school, and told them that he is my dad and not a kidnapper. She told me to come and greet my dad which I still felt reluctant to do because I couldn't recollect his face.
At that point, I could see the reaction on his face and how disappointed he was. A drop of tear ran down his cheek and the whole school settled down after some explanation by my mom. I walked to him stylishly to go hug him, he said he thought of surprising us that was why he didn't wait for my mom before he came inside the school because he missed us and I had to apologize I am sorry. It won't have actually been a lot of a scene if not that kidnapping was trending in Nigeria then.
He changed our school because it wasn't safe enough and we spend a lot of amazing times together. We went to take pictures and we did a very big frame of him in the parlor and he also gave me a picture of himself which I was always looking at every morning then to remind me how he looks after he went back.
I actually haven't seen him in years again but I know what he looks like now.
