Hello dear, Hivers!
This is my first time writing in the #TheInkWell community.
I've been around for a while posting some poems, but now I'll post something different. I also write short stories, and I just thought it could be great if I publish it right here.
Without nothing more to say, I'll let you with this story.
At the Bridge
The latter was the one that I liked. I’d been living a life without sense. I mean, I didn’t have a mom or dad. I didn’t have a home. I didn’t have brothers or sisters. Even, didn't have boyfriend. It was just me and this bridge.
I’d been thinking on this for a long time. My mates felt comfortable with the lives they had, and I just didn’t feel that way. I had lived with them since I was a little girl.
I remember that I used to live in a big house with lots of children. They weren’t my relatives. I know that because the women who were taking care of us told us that we were the unwanted children. Nobody wanted to take care of us, so they left us there.
I didn’t have place to stay the night, so I went to the bridge, and I laid down under it. Next day, I woke up, and there were like ten children. They were stray kids. They taught me what to do. Where to find food and where to get a shower. I felt grateful for their help and tried to learn quickly. But then I realized that I didn’t belong in that place.
Years later, being a stray girl, I knew that the woman in the big house was right. I didn’t worth to somebody. I just was an unwanted girl. Someone who don’t deserve to be on the earth. Maybe I had a mom and dad, but they preferred to vanish of my life.
I just stood on the bridge, staring at the sky, and then, at the river. It would be a long fall. The breeze felt good, and the atmosphere was quiet and calm. I had to decide; to jump or not to jump.
And then, in the deepest part of my soul, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave this world. And as a sign of my destiny, the most beautiful cat appeared right next to me. He looked at me with its greyish eyes and I could perceive its sadness. Do not ask me how is that I knew that. He got close to me and lay down on my feet.
In that moment, I recognized that it was time to take care of someone else and myself.
