The elves poured water over the professor’s and Esmeralda's naked bodies. They gently washed away the lizard semen clinging to their skin. There was something unabashedly simple in their motions, direct, an economy of movement and rhythmic strokes.

As the effects of the psychoactive substance wore off, Dr. Linnaeus felt his consciousness solidify like bubbles floating in reverse. Fizzling back into solid blocks of sensations and perceptions. The vibrations subsided into the still familiar forms of normality. The sound of the waterfall filling the lagoon. Crisp and clear. The breeze rustling through the leaves. A tympanic symphony. The light from Jupiter and Callisto filtered through the sky glass in a pattern of hues- it streamed down like honey upon their symmetry. All around them, the faint scent of cherry blossoms blending with the musky scent of Arcas’ atmosphere.
In the soft light, their eyes met.
Fear and trepidation. The professor and his assistant had been forced into this set of circumstances by the wild Arcasian women. What happened was not their fault , or was it? Perhaps not, but what mattered was that something had happened! They had experienced and shared an altered state of consciousness that opened up a new dimension of being. For a brief moment, they had seen each other’s true form. Their higher self. Free of guilt and sin. A bond had been made. Forged in the experiential reality of a synaptic crucible. An alchemical marriage.
But there was a bittersweet sadness to the whole affair. They had tasted the forbidden fruit of knowledge, and now that they were returning to reality, they felt cast out from the Garden of Eden. Paradise lost. They sought refuge in each other’s eyes, and when they did not find it there, they looked for it in each other’s arms.
Callisto and Jupiter waltzed across the sky in their unlikely affair.
The gurgling stream
A frog jumped in the water
Her lips on his lips
“Yes, do that, do that!”
And his fingers caressing the falling petals.
