This is the time of the year when we all get together at mom's house, to share and remember the yearnings, dreams and objectives we set for that year, the goals accomplished and not accomplished.
I remember when we were children, my father would gather all of us, our cousins and some neighbor children from the block to form a caroling group, we would prepare plays, this in order to show our family love, obedience and welcome the coming year with them.
That year when we did the play "Farewell to the year". Among my siblings and cousins we impersonated some real life characters such as: my cousin María Eugenia in the role of the wealthy girl who did not lack good quality clothes; María Antonieta was the party girl who walked around with her four under her arm; I was the book devourer, the nerd with round glasses with lenses so thick that they looked like the bottom of a bottle; my brother whom we affectionately call Chiquitín, not for being the last one since he is the third, he was the time that indicated the hours and seconds left to finish the year; my second brother Ernesto who dramatized the old year, he was skinny as a needle, to make him look old we put talcum powder in his hair, a beard as white as clouds, long as a tie, he walked hunchbacked leaning on a crooked stick that looked like a creeper. When the old year falls to the ground he appears to my cousin Hernán Miguel crawling, he was as fat as a drum, white as snow, wearing a diaper that we made with a sheet and said "I am the new year, I come full of love, new strength for you to accomplish your goals".
That play was very funny but at the same time creative, it was our last presentation. The following year we were already teenagers, my cousins and friends had another way of enjoying family time. Although traditionally my mother, aunts and grandmother were in the kitchen preparing the hallacas stew, we cousins were in charge of cleaning the banana leaves and peeling the garlic. At this stage everyone would run away because peeling them left a foul smell on our hands, so I was left alone peeling garlic with a few old ladies.
On the other hand, about two years ago, my big brother and friend told me about Hive and how interesting its publications were, he called my attention but I did not jump into the water. However, he was always after me insisting me to join, until he convinced me and I agreed to join this platform.
I already have about a year and four months enjoying and sharing the feedback we give each other. I remember when I started, it was wonderful my first presentation I never thought they could like my stories.
So I was making publications wow it was great, until one day my computer was damaged, thank God and other hive gave me their support for me to make my weekly publications, from there I got a savings with which I bought my own computer.
Apart from my family, Hive is the engine that moves my life and my passion. For this new year my goals are: personally to sell my land to buy our house, to help my family especially my daughter Rut, to support her in her studies so she can be an excellent student and have academic bases for when she goes to college, to improve the quality of my projects and writing in Hive not to make money, but for them to be of quality and last but not least to help anyone who needs it.
I hope you like my non-fiction story.
