It was exactly 3:00 pm when Mr and Mrs Elijah got back from Deborah’s school.
“Deborah!!,” Mrs Elijah called her daughter to the living room.
“What do you want to do with your life? Haven’t we tried enough to you? We took you to one of the best schools only for you to come back home with useless grades. Do you think it will make us happy at all,” Mrs Elijah said to Deborah.
“My wife, don’t bother stressing yourself. We can see that this girl isn’t ready to learn. Maybe we should withdraw her from the school so that she can sit at home while her mates are going to school,” Mr Elijah said to his wife and Deborah pleaded with her parents not to withdraw her from school.
“Daddy, Mummy, please I’m sorry. I want you all to understand that this is not my fault. Please, maybe you should change my school and watch my performance again,” Deborah said to her parents kneeling down and trying to convince them that she will be better in class but she was sent out of their sight.
After her parents had a deep thought about it, they changed her school but this does not change the fact that Deborah is not academically smart. Her parents didn’t have much and they could not continue to pay her school fees since they are not getting a positive result. Her difficulty in learning led her parents to take her to a workshop.

Very early on Monday morning, Mr Elijah woke Deborah up.
“Madam wake up. We’re going out and make sure you get ready in twenty minutes. I’d be back,” Mr Elijah said to his daughter and stepped out of her room.
She got ready in just fifteen minutes and she hopped into her father’s car. The drive was about ten minutes and they landed at a makeup artist’s shop. The artist and Mr Elijah exchanged greetings and went straight to the real deal.
“Here is the girl I told you about. She wasn’t doing well in school and I think she may give it her best here so let’s see what will be the outcome, Mr Elijah said to the beautiful makeup artist.
“Dad, what am I doing here? This place is not where I belong and it isn’t even a school so what am I supposed to be doing here? Am I here to work as a model?,” Deborah asked her father looking confused and wondering why she was brought here.
“Well, I’m sorry to tell you that your mother and I reached a conclusion that you should come here to learn since you are not academically fit,” Mr Elijah responded to Deborah.
The young girl felt bad, cried and knelt down to her father so he could take her to school but he made up his mind already and he could not change that. Her parents were expecting her to be good at what she does but Deborah spent two years there without assimilating anything.
“What kind of girl is this?,” her mother asked herself.
Her parents took her to another workshop so she could learn bead making but she wasn’t good at it too. Everyday, it looked like Deborah was getting worse.
She could not even make an ordinary purse or the simplest thing that could ever be made from bead. Since there was no improvement, she was taken away from the bead making school.
Deborah began to have more interests in cooking. She had nowhere to go as her parents already gave up on her. They no longer talk to her in the house but she felt there is one thing she should be able to do but her parents would not listen to her if she tells them.
She then thought of calling her grandmother.
“Hello grandma, how are you doing?” Deborah said to her grandmother.
“I’m fine my princess even though I’m not happy with you because you have chosen not to make us proud,” grandmother said to Deborah.
Tears rolled out of the little girl’s eye because everyone thinks it’s her fault for not being academically fit.
“I know you all think it’s my fault but I want to beg you for something. Can you help me beg my parents so that they will take me to a culinary school? I have a feeling that I can shine there and I will make them proud,” Deborah said to her grandmother.
The old woman wondered what made the little girl decide to go to a culinary school. Grandmother was able to convince her parents to give her a last chance.

Luckily, she was able to pick up with that and finally, Deborah found what she’s good at after numerous domino effects took place in her life from changing schools to makeup artists, to bead making but eventually found peace with culinary.
