Young Indigo smiled in front of the cell phone camera that one of his fans, who, it should be noted, had offered to record the feat himself.
“This will go to the big TV productions, maybe I'll send it to Strange Realities," said Indigo, imagining the large amounts of money he would earn, he would no longer be just another influencer, but would be taken into account. “As I told you in the previous recording, I'm on the passenger liner Excelsior, sailing in the Mediterranean Sea, heading for the islands of Crete” The fan named Ulysses laughed in delight. “You are about to witness a creature rarely seen in this part of the world.”
The boat began to rock uncontrollably. The atmosphere was tense, and the few people who were in the Royalty retreated to their cabins. But young Indigo signaled Ulysses to focus the camera on the bow. The sea began to open, and huge tentacles emerged from the depths, holding the hull of the ship and crawling up onto the deck, the suckers began to overturn the tables and the scattered belongings of the passengers. In addition, the hull was affected by the force of the creature and several cracks began to appear. It did not take long for water to enter.
“For the past three weeks, Nautech's passenger ships have been wrecked by this beautiful creature of the sea," While Indigo was talking calmly, Ulises was taking spectacular shots. “It is the so-called and feared Kraken, a creature of the deep. Many classify it as an octopus, but in reality, it is a giant squid. Not just any giant squid, but a scarce one that can submerge a ship like this one". The creature, with only its tentacles visible, used all its strength to take the bow of the ship with it. “They are mythological creatures that possess a very strong magical charge, even a magician like me finds it difficult to get rid of this fantastic being.”
Then he waved his hands and said a few words that were difficult for humans to pronounce. As he said them, his magic bounced off the Kraken's skin, and the silver light Indigo emitted struck the creature, but had no effect at all. It continued to contract the ship as if it were a tin can.
“Do something to my ship!" shouted Captain Seamaster, who had watched the whole thing from his hiding place, in anger. “I can't stand it any longer. The Company hired you to stop this. We've suffered many losses.”
Indigo ignored the angry captain and concentrated on a larger spell that might work against the creature. He raised his hands and pointed them at the creature's tentacles.
Indigo gathered his strength to pull at an invisible thread. He was still casting his spell as Ulysses cheered him on, keeping his camera in focus. Thousands of invisible hooks seemed to attach themselves to the thousands of tentacles that spread across the deck. Within minutes, the sea beast surfaced. Even though it was a new moon, the size of the beast was reflected.
It had a sharp, deadly, parrot-like beak. Its two eyes were also terrifying, glaring at the ship as if it were the one that had lifted it into the air. He tried with all his might to stretch his suckers toward the ship. Quickly, Indigo worked out another spell that seemed to encase the Kraken in an invisible sphere.
People began to emerge from their cabins to cheer on the magician's accomplishment. Everyone had placed their trust in Indigo; he was well-known in their social networks and, as far as they knew, had never failed.
But young Indigo continued to recite his spell. The Kraken was not unmoved, pounding at the invisible walls that held him, prisoner. Such a feat was a worthy one, for the Kraken was as big or bigger than the ship.
“And now?" the frightened captain wanted to know. He was afraid the beast would fall on the ship. “Won't it crush it?" he asked Ulysses.
“Let it, old man, can't you see it's a rising star?”
Indigo did as if he was going to throw an invisible ball, but he had to gain momentum. Even his hand was about to fall to the ground. In a dramatic moment, he threw the invisible object, and the octopus flew through the air in the same direction the young magician was aiming. The creature disappeared over the horizon without a trace. The boy's face was bathed in sweat.
“Won't it come back?” the captain wanted to know, embarrassed. He was about to ask another question, but Indigo's gaze silenced him.
The boy took some time to straighten his clothes and wipe off the sweat before speaking again.
“My fans, for a moment I thought I couldn't handle such a being,” he said to the camera, ignoring the offended captain. “But it was possible, you have witnessed the greatest feat I have ever performed. Few recognized magicians have been able to move a Kraken.” Indigo himself smiled with satisfaction. “I could not murder it. An easy way out, to be sure, but few know that Kraken are ancient creatures whose bodies are filled with magic. Killing them would be like killing a dragon. Something our ancestors did,” he paused for breath and continued. “Dragons were one of the main sources vital to the emergence of magic in our world. Their extinction strained the main pillar of magic that not even unicorns or phoenixes can fill. The Krakens endow the seas with magic, and killing them would not be right.”
The captain twisted his eyes in annoyance.
“Hey, environmentalist, how do you think we're going to get to the next port if you let the beast crack the hull?”
Indigo uttered more mystical words and snapped his fingers. The water stopped coming through the cracks, an invisible barrier preventing the liquid from entering.
“That doesn't fix anything!" the captain objected, getting fed up.
“You think I'm an engineer who can fix the cracks with magic," Indigo told the captain. “I am a magician, and I will only fight magical creatures. Magic is not meant to help people, but to protect them from themselves. That should be enough to get you home alive.
“Thank you!" the captain walked away. He knew what happened when a mage was offended and would rather not die.
Indigo looked back at the camera.
“You must remember my knowledgeable audience of many years ago. Perhaps 500 years ago, there was a war of mages. So great that it nearly wiped out humanity, the cause being the reliance on magic” the wizard pointed out with authority. “Magic must be used with care for those who can float on the magic river of Emece.”
“Bravo! Bravo!" Ulysses stopped recording. “I am happy to be your cameraman on this occasion. My mother said it wouldn't do any good to be a photographer…”
Indigo ignored everything Ulysses said. He was angry at the captain's ignorance and especially that his show might not be shown on television because of the complaints he would have.
