As he walked down the street, Adam felt the spider in his pocket stir, he quickly used the scented hanky to wrap the holed box it was in. Watching it slip back to sleep. "900 ft over the Tharric Ocean, Sir." "We're in a plane?" Adam asked, straining against his holds. A light was shown directly upon Adams face, further dimming any sight he had of his surroundings. "It's a strange and scary sensation to suddenly forget your own name." There was a knock on the door and my Vice president Etten Holt came in. "It means what kind of government we are, if we can't keep our promises." He says standing up. "So all of you knew the outcome of this election, watching it unfold like some kind of Reality Tv show."

"We don't need you awake just yet." He said as he rushed into the black SUV parked in the corner.
"You've got it?" The figure sitting across from him asked.
He nodded and brought out the case.
"The Pyraxxian Spider, a male juvenile, very rare, very poisonous."
There was a long silence after that.
The sudden change in air movement showed that the car was stopping.
He didn't even know when it began moving.
"How do I know if it works?"
"Sir?" Adam asked confused
"How do I know if the spider works?" The man asked again.
"Well, I guess you won't just know till you try it." Adam replied with an uneasy laugh.
"Indeed."
Suddenly Adam felt 2 hands hold him down.
His eyes wide as realization of how they were going to try it dawned on him.
He felt the pressure on his ears lessen and he wondered where they were now.
The radio sizzled
"Well yes, we're in a plane." The unknown figure replied.
"It's quite easy to get rid of waste in water, you know. Plenty of animals to help get rid of unwanted objects." His eyes creased as he said objects, making Adam cringe as he imagined being torn apart by sharks.
He felt the man walk closer and hold his hand.
"Are you ready Adam?" He asked
With tears coming out of his eyes Adam shakes his head.
"No... Please..".
The man unlocks the box and lets the spider into Adam's clothes.
The extreme fear must have made Adam lose consciousness, he opened his eyes to see that he was in the sky looking at the clouds, it seemed to happen in just a second, the wind swirled around him and the world went black.
The nurse tells me while I drink the glass of water she offered me, I drank and smiled at her.
Truly I'm not all there, why with all the celebration and alcohol from last night I'm lucky that I still remember how to talk.
"I don't think there's anything wrong with you, so if that's all I'll take my leave now Mr. President."
I wave her out of my office beaming.
Mr President, I finally made it here after 6 years of planning and plotting.
I finally won.
I walked towards the National flag hung on its stand.
The one that the previous president Joyner Brugge handed to me.
Touching it fondly I remember what he said to me.
"Hope you'll be better than I was, lead this people well." A rather touching last word by the old fart.
He led the country into bankruptcy and debts, of course I can do way better.
Etten, a political man who stays through with his ideals, the kind of person you don't want to cross.
"Hey VP." I say laughing as he smiled and bounced in.
"Goodmorning Mr. President." He replies with his deep cool voice.
"I hear that you forgot your own name?" He said laughing.
"It was just a simple misunderstanding, really not something to fuss over." I say taking my seat.
"Hmmmm." He replied broodingly
"Hope you won't forget your promises."
I looked at him, he simply looked at me back.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I ask quietly.
"I don't know what you're talking about. I've not broken any promises." I reply
"Tom, I'm going to ask you this only once and you damn well give me the honest answer. Did we win this election fairly?"
"What kind of question is that Etten, of course we won fairly, the whole country knows that."
"Do they, though?" He stood looking at the flag, the same spot I was standing when he entered.
"I walked into our party high cabinet meetings, I heard the numbers, I collected the computers and saw the numbers, the amount of cash forwarded to the CV hunting committee."
"We rigged the election, didn't we?" He shouts holding the flag pole.
"So what if we did?" I shout back.
"We're the best thing for this country and you know it, the people know it, plus the other competitors changed some figures too."
"So we should follow them and commit fraud when we claim to be different?" He says sadly.
"When we criticize them, insult them, go to church and pray against them, pray for our success when we're just like them?"
"I'm nothing like him!!" I scream, shocking both Etten and myself.
"You are exactly like him, you are exactly like the cheating, thieving scum Michael, the only difference is that you're in the President chair." He hissed
I turned and looked at the standing mirror by the corner of my office, but whoever was looking back at me in the mirror, it certainly wasn't me.
I said nothing, head bowed in shame at what I had become.
"You are no president, you are a thief, you are a blemish and this country, she doesn't need you leading her."
Suddenly I felt my vision shift. I fell to the ground, I tried to scream or shout but I couldn't.
"Pyraxxian Spider venom. Tasteless and odourless, perfect assassination technique when mixed with water. Death is painful as hell yet silent due to the fact that the victim can't make a sound." He stood leering at me.
"I'll rather be labelled a murderer than have another thief like you rule this country. I guess this wasn't part of the script in your Tv show." He says with a laugh
"Goodbye, Mr President."
I watched him from the floor as he walked out of the office, my veins filled like they were on fire and my throat was bloated.
I tried crawling and I managed to reach the flag stand.
I held it trying to get up but I fell down with it.
Dying, my last sight was the fallen flag of my beloved country.
