Putting her ear to the floor she listens intently, eyes closed in concentration, suddenly she raises her head up and shines a devilish smile.
I flew over the house and saw her object of interest.
From my high vantage point I looked as she crept slowly towards him, using as much skill as possible to try and silence her footsteps so as not to give herself away.
The young turkey clicked and clucked, pecking away completely oblivious of the fact that his nemesis was en route.
Said nemesis spied me on the wire and gave me a grunt, I nodded my head, promising not to give her position away.
Seemingly satisfied with that she crept on, now halfway through to her quarry, just another corner to turn.
Suddenly the young human ran out of the house.
Piper?? What are you doing here??
The young girl shouted. I held my breath, trying not to laugh at the bitter luck the dog had.
I looked over at the turkey and it seems he didn't hear the outburst of the human.
Elise!!!! Come inside
I heard the mother call the young one...
But Ma, Piper is outside and she's acting weird...
The child protested
I don't care, come inside now!.
With a grumble, she entered and shut the door.
All through the dialogue, Piper laid low with her ears on the floor listening to the turkey's footsteps and clucks.
She continued her creep, holding her simple yet effective gait of a foot at a time.
She was at the corner finally, the turkey still oblivious of her presence.
Slowly, Piper took a peek and saw her quarry.
Salivating at the mouth she turned at the corner and the turkey saw the hand he had been dealt with by fate.
At this point I flew off as I wasn't a resident of this household and I had other businesses to attend to just your regular commentating crow doing crow business...
I was a bit curious as to why the dog went to the turkey and I decided to investigate.
What I gathered from neighbouring birds was that...
For the past 2 years, Piper had been the sole animal in this territory, then 2 months ago the turkey came over and has been her sole challenger.
After numerous taunts and insults by the turkey, it seems mother luck shines on Piper today, as the gate dividing her kennel from the rest of the compound was left open..
