Since I was a child, one of my hobbies has been drawing and watching anime. I’ve always loved drawing, whether it’s houses, animals, or cartoons.
I started with simple "stick figures" 😅 because I couldn’t imitate things properly, but I never stopped. I kept practicing. Back then, before I had a smartphone, I would draw whenever I felt bored or had free time. I drew anything that interested me, especially my favorite characters from animation. I always imagined if I could draw them well. Eventually, I decided to improve my love of art.
When I entered high school, I stopped using stick figures and started drawing people in human figures.
Most of my drawings were of anime characters. I remember drawing this when I was in Grade 7.This one I imitated from a book. I love reading, especially if it has many pictures. While reading, I became interested in drawing the characters' faces. I remember reading about the historical background of national heroes, and this man is one of them, but I’m not sure which one 😂😅.
This is the first anime character I drew Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece. My family always followed this anime and never missed an episode, from when Luffy was a child until he grew up.
This anime character is Neferpitou from Hunter x Hunter. I was a fan of this anime because of the strong friendship between Killua and Gon, as well as their wonderful yet challenging journey in Greed Island and their fight against the Chimera Ants. I don’t know why I drew her first instead of the main characters; I guess I just loved her cat-like appearance haha.
This anime character is Gajeel Redfox from Fairy Tail. To be honest, I first I try to drew Natsu Dragneel but had difficulty with his face. Gajeel caught my attention, so I ended up drawing him.
I’m not sure how this one turned out, but it’s Naruto Uzumaki from the anime Naruto. I chose to draw him because of his simple eyes and hair.
This one is Son Goku from Dragon Ball. My mother colored it because she’s also a fan of Son Goku. We followed this anime as well because of its good story and humor.
Unfortunately, I stopped drawing when the COVID-19 outbreak hit the Philippines. I was busy with my modules, and I had to assist my brother with his as well.
I got a chance to draw again when I was in Grade 10, and I drew Killua Zoldyck. He is the closest friend of Gon. I didn’t color it because I was afraid it would look bad.
I used to draw large characters, up to the shoulders only, so I tried drawing a smaller character: Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail. I was a bit disappointed with this one because I used a marker instead of my gel pen, and it didn’t turn out as I hoped. However, I felt happy because I knew I could draw something like this.
Being a huge fan of anime, I also got hooked on comics.
These two characters are from comics I read. Their strong relationship and trust in each other, despite the storms of life, encouraged me to draw them. It was a nice story about life, death, and sacrifices.
This one is a character who survived a massacre and became a knight to seek justice for her loved ones.
This drawing was a task from our teacher where we had to draw using coffee. The theme was nature, but the teacher allowed us to draw something else. I ended up drawing Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. I’m not sure if it looks like Gojo or if it’s just in my eyes. At that time, I had just finished watching Jujutsu Kaisen season 1, so he was the character who came to my mind.
I drew this in Grade 11. It was a suggestion from my friend for her birthday gift. I was nervous that she wouldn’t be satisfied with my drawing, but I did my best and thankfully got the result I wanted. My friend was very happy to see it because it really looked like what she had suggested.
This is my most recent drawing from 2024. I drew this last month. It’s Roronoa Zoro from One Piece. Zoro often pops up on my news feed, especially in scenes where he’s losing, which was why I decided to draw him.
To be honest, I have a drawing book where I kept all my drawings, but unfortunately, I lost it and don’t know where I put it. This is the only drawing I have left because I didn’t put it in my collection. I was really sad because it had many drawings that I put a lot of effort into. However, I cheer myself up by knowing that I can draw them again and make them better than the first time.
Additionally, my relatives always say that I inherited this talent from my deceased father, who also loved to draw and won many awards. His ambition was to be an architect.
I was amazed and surprised to hear that. Sometimes I wish he were still alive to see my artworks and teach me to improve them.To those who love to draw, keep practicing and don’t give up. Just let your pencil bleed, and you’ll achieve the best results.
