Swamy Vivekananda has given a commentary on the above. He says that when man through constant practice distinguishes that the self is not material or mind(trail of thoughts) and it is not nature either because nature changes constantly, then the power of discrimination increases and the veil of ignorance will fall off and the inner soul will shine and reveal its true nature and then Nirvana can be attained.
When the body is awake, the mind will always be busy with thoughts. At first, the thoughts will be about completing the morning duties, and suppose the water is not coming through the tap due to various problems, the human starts to get agitated. This agitation will increase when the breakfast is not good enough or according to taste. So, the thoughts keep coming and the mind becomes more agitated than ever. Office troubles add to it and a wife who is always suspicious finishes the game with endless calls and messages.
Thus the day will be really bad for the human who undergoes all this. How does one overcome all the troubles? Can the water appear magically or can the wife be asked to keep quiet?
The only solution is for the man to realize that all this is an illusion and that it is just like a dream from which one has to wake up. The realization that the outside world is just a projection is what is needed. Often, we expect others to behave in a certain manner and even before they start speaking, we provoke them to say according to what we expected and then the trouble begins. So, leave alone nirvana. even peace of mind is not attained.
As Swamy Vivekananda explains, it is only through constant practice that the mind can be tamed and the train of thought stopped.

सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिद्दुःखभाग्भवेत् ।
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

May every one be happy, may every one be free from all diseases
May every one see goodness and auspiciousness in every thing, may none be unhappy or distressed
