Quest For Stoken: the first Hive Platform Game!
More than 9 months ago,on February 23, 2023, I played the game Quest For Stoken for the first time and posted my first review on Quest For Stoken.

When I wrote that review, Quest For Stoken was a fun retro-style platform game but it was not a Hive game.
Today I replayed Quest For Stoken and I'm glad because I found so many improvements from my first review and especially glad that I found the game's connection to the Hive blockchain.
Today Quest For Stoken is the first 2D platformer Hive game.
Quest For Stoken is a free to play game that does not require an installation because it is playable directly from the browser.
Quest For Stoken is a game created by the SkateHive community.
How to play s Quest For Stoken
To play Quest For Stoken you must follow the following steps:
- Step 1: you must go to https://www.stoken.quest/
- Step 2: you need to enter your Hive account name.
- Step 3: you need to click on LOGIN WITH HIVE and click on Confirm on Hive Keychain
- Step 4: after logging in you simply have to press your SPACEBAR
The first improvement I found compared to my first gaming experience is the first level of the game which has the very useful function of teaching the player how to control the skater boy and how to interact with the game elements.
This is a great choice that is not always present in blockchain based games and instead should always be present!
On the main page of the game there is also an explanation of almost every game command through the use of some animated gifs.
On Quest For Stoken there is also a weekly duration rewards mechanism that takes into consideration:
- The scores
- The time taken by players to complete the game.

In week 30 the players who achieved best scores received:
- an amount of HBD
- 1 token GNAR
As you can see I am also there in the leaderboard with 20187 points and 1.40% Share.
First on the leaderboard was @pravesh0 with a really high score: 401128.14 score point
In the next screenshot you can see how the play-to-earn mechanism is structured
In week 30, players who completed the game in the shortest time received:
- 1 token GNAR

My most recent gaming experience
Today I played a game on Quest For Stoken and easily passed the first two levels of the game.
Only in the third level did I notice a slowdown in the speed of the game.
My computer is not recent but this feedback of mine might be useful to the developers.
Compared to my first game experience, many fun and useful elements have been added, such as the heart-shooting gun that I used against the annoying but funny pigeons in the third level.
Compared to my first game experience, I found new levels and new enemies.
I liked the addition of the level set in Greece.
There is also Zeus who killed my skate boy the first time I met him.
But I quickly retaliated :)
The sharks were also a nice addition to the game compared to my first experience.
I finished my last game on Quest For Stoken in the space level with the aliens.
But it was not aliens that killed me but a wrong jump on a mushroom!
Final Considerations
I love platform games because my first Console was the NES 8 bit and my first game was Super Mario Bros.
I really enjoyed playing Quest for Stoken and while playing I also stepped back in time when I was a carefree and always smiling child.
Between yesterday and today I played only two games but I will continue to play in the coming days even though my free time is not much.
After 9 months since my first game on Quest for stoken I found so many improvements and so many new elements added to game.
Quest for Stoken is an even more enjoyable game today than it was 9 months ago.
My experience with the game was very positive.
The only things I found improvable are:
- the double jump on the mushroom is too difficult to do and in my opinion should be made automatic because a jump in a platform game should always be an easy and fun action but instead it is quite frustrating to find the right timing to make the jump.
To double jump over a mushroom you need to press SPACEBAR + UP (arrow key) but if I died on the alien level it's because of this jump.
- levels should be numbered because that way players can more easily confront about the levels and difficulties of the various levels.
With only two games I couldn't complete the game but I will try again in the next few days when and if I have some free time.
If you haven't tried Quest for Stoken yet and you are a lover of Hive and platforming games I recommend you give it a try! ;)

Quando ho scritto quella review, Quest For Stoken era un divertente platform game in stile retrò ma non era un Hive game.
Oggi ho rigiocato a Quest For Stoken e sono contento perchè ho trovato tanti miglioramenti rispetto alla mia prima review e soprattutto sono contento di aver trovato la connessione del gioco alla blockchain di Hive.

Quest For Stoken è un free to play game che non richiede un'installazione perchè è giocabile direttamente dal browser.

Come giocare s Quest For Stoken
Per giocare a Quest For Stoken devi seguire i seguenti passi:
- Passo 1: devi andare su https://www.stoken.quest/
- Passo 2: devi inserire il tuo Hive account name
- Passo 3: devi cliccare su LOGIN WITH HIVE e cliccare su Confirm su Hive Keychain
- Passo 4: dopo aver effettuato il login devi semplicemente premere la tua SPACEBAR
Il primo miglioramento che ho trovato rispetto alla mia prima esperienza di gioco è il primo livello di gioco che ha la funzione molto utile di insegnare al giocatore come controllare lo skater boy e come interagire con gli elementi del gioco.
Ottima scelta che non è sempre presente nei blockchain based games e invede dovrebbe essere sempre presente!
Nella pagina principale del gioco è presente anche una spiegazione di quasi tutti i comandi di gioco tramite l'utilizzo di alcune gif animate.
Su Quest For Stoken c'è anche un meccanismo di ricompense di durata settimanale che tiene in considerazione:
- Il punteggio Score
- Il tempo impiegato dai giocatori per completare il gioco

La mia più recente esperienza di gioco
Oggi ho giocato una partita su Quest For Stoken è ho superato facilmente i primi due livelli di gioco.
Solo nel terzo livello ho notato un rallentamento della velocità del gioco.
Il mio computer non è recente ma questo mio feedback potrebbe essere utile agli sviluppatori.
Rispetto alla mia prima esperienza di gioco sono stati aggiunti molti elementi divertenti e utili come la pistola spara cuori che ho utilizzato contro i fastidiosi piccioni nel terzo livello.
Rispetto alla mia prima esperienza di gioco ho trovato nuovi livelli e nuovi nemici.
Mi è piaciuta l'aggiunta del livello ambientato in Grecia.
C'è anche Zeus che ha ucciso il mio skate boy la prima volta che l'ho incontrato.
Ma mi sono subito vendicato :)
Anche gli squali sono stati una bella aggiunta al gioco rispetto alla mia prima esperienza.
Ho terminato la mia ultima partita su Quest For Stoken nel livello dello spazio con gli alieni.
Ma non sono stati gli alieni a uccedermi ma un salto sbagliato su un fungo!
Considerazioni Finali
Amo i platform game perchè la mia prima Console è stata il NES 8 bit e il mio primo gioco è stato Super Mario Bros.
Mi sono davvero divertito a giocare a Quest for Stoken e giocando ho anche fatto un passo indietro nel tempo quando ero un bambino spensierato e sempre sorridente.
Tra ieri e oggi ho giocato solo due partite ma continuerò a giocare nei prossimi giorni anche se il mio tempo libero non è molto.
Dopo 9 mesi dalla mia prima partita su Quest for stoken ho trovato tanti miglioramenti e tanti nuovi elementi aggiunti a gioco.
Quest for Stoken è un gioco ancora più divertente oggi rispetto a 9 mesi fa.
La mia esperienza di gioco è stata molto positiva.
Le uniche cose che ho trovato migliorabili sono:
- il salto doppio sul fungo è troppo difficile da fare e secondo me andrebbe reso automatico perchè un salto in un platform game dovrebbe essere sempre un'azione facile e divertente ma invece è abbastanza frustrante trovare il giusto timing per effettuare il salto.
Per fare un salto doppio su un fungo è necessario premere SPACEBAR + UP (arrow key) ma se sono morto al livello degli alieni è proprio per colpa di questo salto.
- i livelli andrebbero numerati perchè in questo modo i giocatori possono confrontarsi più facilmente sui livelli e le difficoltà dei vari livelli.
Con sole due partite non sono riuscito ad arrivare alla fine del gioco ma ci riproverò nei prossimi giorni quando e se avrò un pò di tempo libero.
