Hey @zoggygivaerts, welcome to "Crypto Skaters"
- Wassup crypto skaters!!!
Can you tell us a few things about you?
- Yo I'm Ziggy, I'm from Belgium I used to live in a small town with a shitty skatepark called Tessenderlo but I moved to Leuven last week, I'm 24 years old and married the love of my life last year in July. Her name is Emma and we adopted 3 adorable kittens in the past year that came from a shelter. I’ve been skating since I was 10 years old, they used to bully me about it and then it became cool and everyone finally stopped bullying me hahaha.
What's you background with skateboarding?
- I started skating when I was 10 years old because my older nephew did it, so I asked him if he could teach me and he did! I never stopped since then. Skateboarding is one of the best things that ever happend to me. If it wasn’t for skateboarding I’d probably not even be here anymore, I had a really bad depression when I graduated and had to work a 9-5 job and I hated it, but skateboarding and my wife got me trough. I’ve been skating for "Death skateboards" since I was 17 years old. I got on because I did this 16stair handrail when I was 17 and I posted it on facebook it was filmed with a supercrusty camera cause we only had a photographer with us, 2 hours after I posted it, it became viral all over belgium so this distributor called "Go Europe" saw my video so they texted me something like "yo wassup, your crazy, you wanna skate for the brand?" I was like "fuck yeah bro". They invited me to come to Amsterdam and skate with some skaters of their team. I’ve been with them ever since. Distributor gives me boards, wheels, bearings, socks and so much else, man, distributor has such a big heart. Big big shoutout to Mattoes Kaspers, I love you bro. Last year I got a deal for Cariuma, I was on the distribution for a month and out of nowhere Alex Braza emailed me like "hey I need your shoesize and so, your on the flow european team" I was like "whaaattt, sick!". So now a days I get 2 pairs of shoes every month, its my first shoesponsor so im fucking stoked.
Goofy or Regular? / Grinds or Slides?
I'm regular. Damnn yo, this is a hard one, on ledges slides on rails grinds, my favorite trick is fakie fs croocks it feels so good but I also love doing a good long fakie fs noseslide, it's so hard to choose.
Favourite Skater and video part?
- Evan Smith and everyone from Supreme are fucking awesome. I fucking love Kader and Ben Kadow and basically all the videos from William Strobeck are my favorite videos. Also Ishod Wair's style is so good.
How did you get involved with crypto and why?
Cause some random guy at my work was investing in crypto and kept telling me that this is the future and probably the only way to really disconnect from all the banks and the government and be free and rich. So I started checking out crypto my self and it instantly caught my intrest and since then I’ve been trying to make some money with crypto, my first time investing in crypto was right when corona started ended up making 3000 euros from a 1000 euros but corona took so long that I became broke and had to use all the money.
How did you find out about Skatehive?
- I met Marc Nicolson from Death and he told me about Skatehive and I was like "this is fucking sick cause I can get free crypto without having to invest anything so why not". You see now a days I really need all my money from work to pay the bills and rent.
Kickflips or Heelflips?
- Damnnn that's a hard one too, on flat I prefer heelflips or on euro gaps or banks cause I can’t pop my kickflips out of a bank cause they always go rocket haha, but down a stair I prefer kickflips.
In your opinion, how can Web3 change skateboarding?
- Web3 can change everything for skateboarding man it can help all the skaters to get some more financial freedom or to pay their skategear and stuff like that, it also motivates people more to engage with the community and spread love, that's what I think.
I’m telling all my homies to get in this shit but some people still don’t believe me even after all the proof and transactions I showed them they keep thinking its a scam but its not aahhh well those guys will be very sad when they see me pulling up in mij oldtimer porshe 911 dreamcar in 4 years when crypto is big hahahah just some big dreams hopefully they come true one day haha.
Any Web 3 communities you're part of and wanna mention other than Skatehive?
- Im part of skatehype and that’sgnar.ly and recently uploading some clips on sportyn too.
What should we expect from @zoggygivaerts this 2023?
- I'm gonna try to post way more clips starting in 2 days cause I accidentally deleted the clips I filmed a few days ago fuckkk haha also gonna try to make some posts about all the gear that I get in from my sponsors and I’ve been trying to teach my cats how to skate so hopefully some cat skateclips soon but it will take a while cause they are a bit scared hahaha.
Any last words for those reading or anything you wanna mention?
- Hahah yeah bro, just wanted to say to everyone out there that you can do everything and never stop believing in yourself and never give up cause dreams do come true one day. You can achieve everything that you want just keep up the hard work and don’t give up and spread some love on the way
