It was cloudy, we were sore, and it was time to skate. Vlad and i got in an uber, and at some point met up with @willdias.
We were apparently going to a fun DIY spot. I can not remember how we met up with will, maybe he met us there in his own uber or we rode together who knows, but he was wearing a skatehive sweater which was epic. i had never skated with will before.
I remember we were walking around a little bit kind of wondering where the DIY was. It was weird because there was a brand new skatepark like a block from the DIY, which confused me i, i was like "guys its right there" and they were like "no its somewhere else"
We walked through a live construction site to get to the DIY. the construction workers were cool. What i thought was even cooler, (regretfully i dont have a photo) is the construction workers all came up to the DIY spot to take naps. lol they just wanted to chill with the skaters.
The spot was built on some kind of building foundation i think, like most DIY skateparks. Everything built was placed with adequate space in between obstacles, and arranged in a way where you could weave a line together really easy. This is another spot that would have been fun to return to another day.
My first thoughts were that this place looked fun. there was a gnarly flat bar that went over a grass gap into a super steep bank of what used to be the old skatepark. i dont know why i dont have a photograph of that.
It was super fun though.
I got vlad into the pixies when it came on that day I was listening to nirvana. He really liked the wave of mutilation song, and where is my mind. I have been listening to the pixies for years and have decided that No. 13 Baby is my favorite pixies song, so I used the jam from that in this edit.
Higher skateboards is a board company we are building on farcast. i just thought i would add it to the mix even though we hadn't met the higher dudes at the time we skated here in Sao Paulo. we met them in New York at Farcon.
The dudes we shredded with were fun. the old dude liked to get gnarly. never got the dudes name (update: his name is marcelo noveline) but he was probably 47 or something. One dude there was the exact same age as me, Danilo De Rosario. He was super cool. I thought he was really good and later they told me he was pro. he spoke super good english and he knew some dudes from uprise. pretty fuckin sick.
he was also super smart lol because he got a skatehive account and made his first post in like 5 minutes, of him nose-blunting a table off a kicker ramp.
After I broke my board we just wandered less than 5 minutes away from the DIY to some nice little restaurant where we got some quality food, coke, and some coffee afterwards. I took a picture of vlad and Will wearing their skatehive sweaters.
