The Tournament
Hosted by the PlaytoEarn team on the CommunityGaming website you can read the details further here. The rules are quite simple, it is your usual tournament format where all cards are allowed with the first 3 rounds being a bo1 and the later matches being a bo3 lastly the finals would be a bo5.
Decks I Ran
Mid-Range Light
Aggro War
Mid-Range Nature
Mid-Range Magic
I just recycled and used the decks I crafted to play in rank for the tournament as I suspect that the meta will probably be aggro focused and people will just build around it with control-oriented decks i.e Death or Magic and we will just see if one can deal more damage or will the other player stabilize the field first.
Round 1
Against a Control Death deck which used a lot of draw tools to try and deck me out while also drawing some field clearing cards to try and stabilize but I played my Aggro Deck here and the draws were actually helpful as I tend to run out of resources right quick.
Round 2
Against Nature on my 2nd round, I went first on the coinflip which is such an advantage for an aggro deck, I had the tempo and just pressed the advantage further by just hitting face a lot and just letting my opponent choose on how to deal with the board on his turn.
Round 3
Against Deception for my 3rd round, I remembered that he piloted a slow deck since he ran with the draw God power instead of deal 1, it was quite a better matchup for me due to his slow board building and me just getting a good early game hand. Got to qualify for the top 32 which made me quite happy even though it was on the back of Aggro War, a wins a win.
Round 4
Here is where the run ends with me getting decimated 2-0 by my opponent's Nature and War decks, had an ok mulligan on both rounds but still got killed in the end. I probably misplayed during the mulligan phase in trying to force an early draw hand and should have just accepted some of the cards given to me and that cost me the round.
Thoughts
It was an ok run, getting top 32 was quite a neat thing to experience staying up late up till morning due to the time zone difference of the tournament start time is not though. Will probably think twice when entering these types of tournaments again since I don't really want to stay up so late.
Feedback would be much appreciated as I am still new to writing this type of content ✌️!
Happy Holidays and have a Great New Year!
