Greetings everyone,
So after my last weekend ranked event playing aggro relic war, I wanted to keep playing aggressive and fast decks because I am finding quite a lot of fun in them these days. So I remembered than that I played deception not too long ago with a deck that was somewhat order and aggro at the same time but then tweaked it up to become a bit more slower and depending on controlling the board more than finishing the game off.
So I now decided to make a completely new, F2P hidden rush deception deck which not going to lie was so fun and entertaining to play with, and it was my first time try purely hidden rush decks where A LOT of your creatures are hidden and you hit face crazily and get damage.
It was a bit weird to get used to such playstyle but having been using relic war aggro a while ago, I was pretty familiar with hitting face let's say and not being scared and hitting enemy creatures instead :p. So I will be sharing the deck with you all in this post along with some suggestions to make it better if possible.
The Deck
So as we can notice, this deck has a lot of hidden creatures in it to keep summoning them and getting face damage, alongside some spells to help immensely get that damage in and finish the game off. It costs around 0.01 Eth so pretty cheap, and so much fun to use. It does not have a huge win rate but a decent one and it could get better with some improvements and with getting used to playing it. So let us see how did the deck perform over the last 17 matches:
Matchups Breakdown
Matchups | Wins/Matches | Win rate |
---|---|---|
Light | 1/1 | |
Nature | 1/2 | |
Magic | 4/6 | |
Death | 0/3 | |
War | 3/3 | |
Deception | 1/2 | |
Overall | 10/17 | 58.8% |
So the deck has a 58.8% win rate over the last 17 matches which is not bad, but also not great. I have to say 2 of these matches were lost because of connection problems so it should have been a bit better. As we can notice the deck did pretty well against magic because I was able to finish them off so fast, with them having trouble always clearing my hidden creatures.
However, I struggled a lot against zombie death because they always kept healing up and I did not have any relic removal not even in the sanctum, and I did not add Counterfeit to this deck. But overall it was a fun deck to play and it can perform a lot better also! Now let's see why did I chose those spells to add for this deck and why are they in a hidden rush deck:
Spells choice
Assassin's Aim and Dark Knives
Needless to say, these 2 cards are the foundation of any hidden rush deck. They will help you get huge damage in that sometimes your opponent might not expect, and make you able to finish the game off a lot faster. The free hidden from Assassin's Aim is also huge which will make you not be forced to use 2 extra mana and use god power to hide it!
Stoneskin Poison
I added this card to use in case the opponent used any annoying frontline at some point, this way I can use it on him and not have to worry about him for another 2 rounds, and this also means that I will be able to use god power on my creature and hide it if needed to get that extra damage in next round, instead of using it on the frontline to get over it. So this card might come in handy at any time also to kill annoying creatures like Oddi Valka's for example if the deck you are facing does not use frontlines.
Rapture Dance, Umber Arrow and Hunting Trap
Sometimes you might require to kill a certain enemy creature because it faces a lot of danger for you, so these 3 cards does exactly that from clearing one strong enemy creature with hunting trap, clearing of couple of weak creatures early game with Umber Arrow, or if things got out of hand and enemy flooded the board and you made to 6 mana, the Rapture Dance will do the trick. I added only one copy of the other 2 spells because the deck is more about face damage in then clearing and controlling board.
Surprise Delivery
Not only is this card super good to help you get some extra 6 face damage in, which by the way can be huge most of the times with this deck, but also if played at the perfect time, this card might serve blocking your opponent from playing extra creatures for 2 rounds which is huge for you. This way most of the times you would not have to worry about taking a lot of face damage for 2 rounds while you yourself can get some in and plan to clear out the enemy creatures at the same time. So a great card to say the least!
Cards to make it better if available
Now let us talk about some cards that if they are available, their addition can make a huge difference for the deck:
Shade Walker
This card is HUGE for any hidden rush deck. It can help get huge damage in, while remaining hidden for a couple of rounds. I do not have it in my collection, but if you do or it is within your capability to buy, definitely a great addition that can turn the deck upside down for you!
Shadow of Lethenon
This kitty cat can help you get decent face damage in consistently since the start of the face. And since it always will be hidden, in most cases it will be a huge gain except in some cases where the opponent have untargeted spells which is pretty popular with magic. But when magic is not so meta anymore, this card will be an even better addition if it is available for you!
Shimmerscales
Now I wanted to try this card to be honest especially after the rework, it seems like it can be a great addition to a hidden rush deception deck, but unfortunately I still do not have it. The 5/5 with the hidden can prove to be so useful, and you can also hide it several times to get the extra face damage in. Seem like a much better replacement for Porphyrion, Dread Cyclops in this deck, but I had to add him since I ran out of hidden creatures and he was my best choice. So if you own this card definitely go ahead and try it!
Final thoughts
I keep having tons of fun with this game hen I keep jumping from playstyle to playstyle every once in a while, and I gotta say aggro decks have been growing a lot on me recently! Especially this deck was a bit different type of aggressive deck and was very fun to try and I will play it for a couple of days probably. It might even be viable for next week weekend ranked who knows.
I also think with the suggested changes, and maybe other changes that I might not know, it can perform a lot better and might not be so away from the meta this week this remains to be seen! So definitely go ahead and try it, edit and switch some cards in it that you think might make it better and enjoy!
That was it for this post I hope you like the deck, and if you have not tried hidden rush ever before this deck can be a great one to start with since most to all of the cards in it are cheap and available to most of players, and if you happen to not have one or several of them, try switching it with something similar to it; for example if you do not have a certain hidden 2 mana creature like armor lurker let's say, try switching it with another 2 or 3 mana hidden creature, same applies if you do not own a certain spell! Here is the deck code for anyone who want to check it out:

Mad Love, Peace out <3
