Hello my GODs, how are you?
Here is my introduction post so you can learn a little more about me.
Intro
Nice to meet you!
I'm a retired software engineer, worked since my 15 years with computer and software development, already developed using low-level programming for microcontrollers, like C and Assembly.
So you are wondering, you are retired because you earn a lot of money as an engineer... sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not rich, but could save and invest some money so I could take a sabbatical year... this sabbatical year is during 3 years. lol ok. 4 now... I stop counting...
why
Why did I retire? because I had a burnout! I was not comfortable anymore waking up all morning and going to the office and working all day long. my mind was every day elsewhere and I stop having that enthusiasm working. And I used to work with a lot of enthusiasm! I think that's what we need to work happy.
The first year was really sabbatical. I was doing nothing and dedicated my time to go to the park at any time of the week. travel, skating and exercising myself while wondering what I should do next to my life plans.
start in crypto
As I have always been a geek, I was very close to computers, games, and software development, also, with new technologies as cryptocurrency.
I follow the market, and at first, I thought the Government was not going to like this new movement and shut it down since I noticed that was too late for them to shut it down (they always is slow in everything) and I start investing my stock returns into the crypto market.
After the 2017 bull run, and with a lot of free time, I started studying more and more about the crypto market. then I had my first contact with ETH and dApps.
That was my gateway drug for the crypto world.
Found EOS, Steem - Hive then, and a lot of other blockchains and start investing AND USING as crazy. Lost few bucks on projects that are worthing zero now, but that's the risk of investment, right?
learning process
I have another hive account, but as I like to travel a lot, and have a lot of pictures kept just for myself, I decided to create a new account, from zero, with no initial investment, as my other account I start with $100 initial investment, so I could find out how long I will achieve $100 posting here. That was how I learned more and more about the Hive ecosystem and after 4-5 months I reached $100 bucks. So, it's possible to start with no investment here, and that's what I teach my friends. it's possible.
finally... GU
Ah, ok, Again?! Sorry, back to GU... how I stumbled upon God Unchained?
During my research I discovered GU. I was a Magic TG player since my 14 yr old. So, it was a very similar game experience, and fall in love at first.
As I have gaming issues, I never thought to spend a lot of money on games, so until now, I have some concerns about investing in game-related stuff, but as play to earn is evolving, I'm changing my mind.
Did you spend already money on GU? No, I play with the core deck version and as I don't like to spend a lot of time gaming, I really didn't dedicate a lot of time trying to understand all the immutable markets and thought it was confusing due to the change of networks, tokens, and marketplace. IDK
So, I can't say I'm a hard GU player. I like to play it a few games a week, and if I remember about it. I play once a week, or twice... few games, ok. a lot of times. I promise myself that I'll slow down... I'm trying... get outside and go skate or something...
what do I do now
So, what do I do with all my free time?
After this 1st sabbatical year, I decided I could solve problems. then I start helping a friend with his company as project management consulting.
Also, I develop websites as a freelancer. And lately, I talk people to get into Hive and how to earn money by getting off others' social media platforms and getting into Hive. But they are a hard crowd, and others are tired of this subject and I try not to mention it anymore... I think they are so deep into the matrix, that can't try something new. but they will get it someday. I have a few friends that tried and are using Hive more often.
back to gu
Let's talk about GU gaming!
When I started. I read all GODs Lore. I identify myself with the Thaeriel, God of Light.
While playing MTG I always count on friends to build up my deck. I have some friends that are is specialists in deck build... isn't my strength, but I could learn something.
For me, the deck building is the most important part of the game, even before the game start, you need to have a Strategy for your deck. knowing your deck strength and principally your deck weakness...
When to hold that card to combat with that one that will arrive, or spending low-cost cards and you don't have anything else to do.
I start with the Light Starter deck, play a lot at first, and then start earning more cards and decided to shuffle around and see what I could improve remembering when I lose and what was my mistake, or what cards could help me out during specifics situations.
I'm still a Novice. So, I'll try to learn each day more with you guys, I already see that we have a lot of good players around here that will add a lot of value to our communities. Maybe someday we will see HIVE users GU Champions! Hope for it.
my Deck
Check out my MidLight deck at this post or copy it using the code below. I name it as Mid Light cause of the balanced mana cost.

deck Strength
I think the strength of my deck is quick to start, to control board, regenerate and heal.
I use for the most part Summon Alcoyte God Power for this deck. But healing works as well.
deck weakness
The War GOD is the one that beat me up. He is fast and has brutal force. So, I need to focus on attacking god fast and clear strong creatures from the board. A lot of users use this GOD.
last battle against War GOD
I could control the board and hit hard his GOD while healing my GOD when possible.
