Hello Splinterlands Summoners
As usual, welcome to my weekly Splinterlands post. Every weekends I post Splinterlands topic, and for today I make a provocative subject. Nimbledook Explorer as a counter to Mages.
Nimbledook Explorer is a non attacking support card, that's the basic. However later he will get an armor strike ability, and ability that allows him to deliver a melee attack which the amount of damage based on his armor. So the bigger the armor, the harder he will hit.
Armor strike is an impressive ability, because it allows you to add some attack and it is hard to track armor strike damage. It is like a non predicted damage that we will get. However its weakness is that the more damage he gets, the less armor becomes, and the less attack he can deliver. Ultimately, at 0 armor, he will not attack at all.
With this trait, it can be said that as long the armor strike ability holder doesn't lose his armor, his attack will be dangerous. As long Nimbledook Explorer doesn't lose his armor, his armor strike damage should be good.
So I have a small tip here, use him to counter opponent mages. Even he gets hit, he still hit back hard because his armor is still intact. Of course this will not work if the attacker has armor break ability.
However my tip here has a big flaw, which is survivability. Nimbledook Explorer is not some kind of massive unbreakable wall, he has a decent health point but not on the WOW level. He is still decent but easily gets killed by several incoming magic attacks.
However this will be a whole different issue during the small mana cap. In small mana cap, there is not many hard hitter can join in, especially the hard hitter with magic attacks. During this condition, Nimbledook Explorer can excel well against them.
HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE
It will not a good Splinterlands post if we don't employ in a battle, right? Ok here is my battle to support my subject in this post.
This is a good battle I can get for this post, it has 14 mana cap and it is not easy to develop a team using that amount of mana. If we picked a big units, we will have to play with a less number of units. If we pick small units, we can play with many of them but all will be easily wiped out because they are weak.
One thing that amazed me was both of us somehow ended up with having the same number of units, 4 units only. Both of us used same units, we both relied on Halfing Refuge. We both brought one mana units too, he had Endless Gibbon and I had Frigid Wolf.
Ok now the interesting part, he had Akane as the summoner. Technically this should be the decisive factor and I should have lost instantly from AKANE double ambushes buff. However... I had two anti mages unit, the first one was Nimbledook Explorer and the second one was Skyspire Leopard. This was interesting because both of us had the counter to our opponent.
As expected, he used the double ambushes buff. I lost a unit instantly before the battle started. So when round 1 started, it was 4 vs 3 and things looked bad on my side regarding they had a faster team.
The only good thing I had was Skyspire Leopard was a genuine anti magic melee unit, due to his void armor ability. So their Shock Trooper could not wipe him out in one blow.
Round one however ended up as my team dominated the flow if the battle. We killed two of their units and we did not lose anyone again. So on the round 2, the battle was 2 vs 3 with my team having more units than them.
Round 3 was the last one. Shock Trooper alone vs two of my main units, Halfing Refugee and Nimbledook Explorer. It's a good game.
The battle was dominated solely by Nimbledook Exploerer. He had 5 melee damage from the armor strike ability, and it's too much for my opponent there. Do you think this meta is a solid one, working well in small mana cap? Please do share it below on comments! Thank you for your visit here. See you in Splinterlands Rank Battles!!!
