Life has been teaching us some profound and important lesson through the little things that we do.
Picture the mighty storm that has caused damage to to a forest. That strong wind that has been putting mighty trees, taking out their trunks like twigs. Let me say the tree like the iroko, the tallest and the strongest giant of the forest also start to charge against the anger of nature yet it stumbles and fall. There is the humble grass sways from left to right easily and still tries to manage to survive.
This kind of Image holds a powerful truth and fact about life. Sometimes tthe smallest and insignificant things among us can withstand the storm that the strongest cannot in our daily life. It's just easy to just overlook little people without status in our society, like the gate man who opens your gate with his a lovely heart, the cleaner, your house help, your calm colleague who works tirelessly behind everything and does the dirty job.
We might assume that success without authority makes us more superior but that is a very big dangerous mistake. Like it may work with everyone, may have a strong heart through struggles that you never That cleaner who cleans your house, your floor, your bedroom, carries a strength of spirit, of courage that could weather some storms and you might not possess that kind of courage.
Their humility sometimes, their ability to just bear without breaking is a silent power we should never underestimate no matter what or in any situation. It also goes to our homes too. As parents, we often see our children as small, less experienced people but treating them as a lesser person is just like a missed opportunity.
Sometimes your children deserve respect too, not because of their age or accomplishments but because they are human and they have their own mind and say, as the poet once says. William beautifully said, "The child is the father of the man".
Today's child might be the grass bending in the wind but tomorrow we grow into that local tree, strong and powerful. The role we play today as a parent or a boss or leader are just temporary and will not last for long. Tomorrow the table might turn and that small, little child will be the father of the man.
The child is the father of the man. We recognize that every person, no matter their station or their area in life, has its stories, strengths, and it's time to avoid that. When we honor the grass and the little ones among us, we build a life rooted in kindness.
So the next time something comes your way, remember the grass. It doesn't fight the wind. It just moves with it and gets back to its normal shape. It doesn't boast of its strengths. It endures. Let's learn from it.
Let's celebrate those quiet powers of the little ones and don't underestimate the little ones in our life. And also let us not underestimate what they can be able to achieve or do. They might remind us of two strengths that lie in standing tall, but also in standing steady in life and not breaking challenges that hit us.
