If you are an adult and you are still counting what your parents will leave behind when they when they are no more then you have succeeded in limiting your potential.
It is very common in African traditions, especially for the first child, although, there is still an expectation that you are the one that will inherit the family's wealth, maybe they learn the money or the business that will be left behind when your parents are no more.
It's also a cultural norm but what you need to know is that banking only on inheritance can really delay your progress in life your own house or not you'd have to depend on someone's wealth because it is what you build with your life it's that make you fill fulfilled.
A few months ago there is a guy that I met at a community event and the guy shared a story that's talked with me for a very long time, he grew up in a place where people expect their father to leave behind a huge amount of inheritance, so instead of him to learn a trade or explore his own path, he spent all his years his twenties waiting for his time to come to inherit his father's wealth.
Unfortunately, his dad passed away and he went on to find out that the the factory that dad left behind wasn't serious yet and he had no idea, he had no skills, no manpower to turn it around and he complained bitterly and wept that he wasted years thinking someone else's property will carry him along and take him far.
The story I heard really taught me a bitter lesson, I have to come to the realization that living my life on my own is better than waiting for what someone is going to give to me at the end of his life. I needed to create my own story.
Now, I want to be focused on building my own future. I want to create my own path. I want to build my skills and make my own money and have my own property and possession. I'm spending hours every day so that I can build my life.
I want to cut out distraction. Watching too much movie shows, going to social media, all these are just time-wasters. If an inheritance comes that is fine, it would be an extra plan. But my plan must be majorly building my own self, my vision is more important than any other inheritance.
I need to focus on other things of my life because focusing on inheritance only can make you lazy like you always feel entitled to success without being working for it actually. But progress come from the action you take from learning your own skills by yourself developing yourself failing and trying and getting back up.
The weight of your parents might boost you a lot but, it is also that keeps you standing, it preserves you more when things are not going away. Don't let that tradition take you into waiting for so long, you just have to start now, build your own life and don't wait for the inheritance of another person or the property of another person to make
it.
