Hello, friends!
I'm here, to share with you the effective ways to be a confident public speaker. I know public speaking can be nerve-wracking; it's kind of stressful, fearful, and nervous to some people, while others find joy and excitement in doing it.
I'm going to share my story of public speaking. There are so many things I know today that I learned in church, how to sing, public speaking, and leadership skills, I learned in church.
My public speaking started when I was appointed to lead in opening prayers in my church; on my first day, I was shy and nervous, and I started by saying short-term sentences or words; I was in a haste to do things fast and live the podium. I continued several times, and I became a master; I followed this process, and it helped me a long way. Today, I can stand in a bigger congregation and do a presentation even though at the start, I will feel some fears about climbing a strange stage, and when I start saying something, the fears will go away.
Public speaking is a good skill I would love to encourage myself to do more. It gives you this confidence, boldness, and self-awareness of what to say and how to say it that will attract attention from the listeners. It's a blessing to be a public speaker and it will give you exposure to fluency.
Effective ways to be a confident speaker
Your posture
Your posture from your seat to the stage tells people how confident you are. If your walking steps are staggering, it will send signals to the audience that you are not confident or bold enough to speak to them. Your confidence speaks volumes and values.
Your posture matters when it comes to public speaking. Your composure and your steeze will be appreciated.
Eye contact
This one is required as one of the effective ways to be bold in public speaking. 🤣🤣 I'm laughing because I remembered how my Sunday teachers, used to tell us when we wanted to do Bible recitation to the congregation, we had to look at the ceiling to avoid people's faces as a distraction. This was when we were little children. Growing up, I realized that confidence comes when you maintain eye contact which is a powerful way to connect with your audience. Eye contact shows how confident you are to communicate and engage with your audience and earn their attention.
Minister smile
As a public speaker, you need to learn how to minister a genuine smile that will captivate your audience, and as a code for friendliness, it will make you engage better and more comfortably.
Practice/confidence in public speaking
As the saying goes, "Practice makes perfect". The more you practice, the more you become perfect and fear will lose sight of you. There's no shortcut in public speaking. I believe in consistency, and we aren't born with it, but we engage consistently to give you a better result, like confidence.
Thank you for reading through.
