In my last post, I mentioned that covering Memeland would be my next topic. I never expected that writing about this Tap-to-Earn game would be this difficult.
The reason for the difficulty is due to the existence of two MEME tokens that appear to be not connected. I am wondering whether this is allowed in the crypto space to create two tokens using the same name and many similar images. One would simply think that these two are the same. However, after doing my research, I came up to the conclusion that the MEME token on Telegram, which is one of the tokens you can see in the Memeland Tap-to-Earn (T2E) game is not the same as the MEME token now traded on crypto exchanges like Binance, MEXC, and coinmarketcap.com. There are several reasons why I came up with this conclusion:
Token Contract Address
The Token Contract Address of MEME traded on crypto exchanges is 0xb131f4A55907B10d1F0A50d8ab8FA09EC342cd74 whereas the MEME token on Telegram has none.
Staking
The staking of MEME tokens using the Ethereum contract is more complicated than the Telegram MEME. Under the Start Tab, the instruction is simple: stake 1 MEME and you will also get 1 STEAK in one week.
What makes staking in Stakeland complicated for me are the two tabs: Pro and Air.
Under Pro, you can see MON Protocol and RUNECOIN. If you click the MON Protocol, a new window will open explaining that the protocol is related to the “building of Nintendo of Web3, publishing and developing blockchain-native IPS and games.” Source
The website describes RUNECOIN as “the leading fungible token on Bitcoin, built with the new Runes Protocol.” Source
Under the Air tab, Stakeland has Borpa Token and YOLO games. The first has been discontinued whereas the second appears to have an ongoing airdrop that will end on 28 July. Source
Turning our attention to Telegram’s MEME, the staking is easy to follow. They have these different categories from Bronze to Universe with varying quantities of staked MEME. The Silver level for instance requires 10,000 staked MEMEs and for the Universe level, 100 M staked MEMEs.
Tokenomics
When it comes to tokenomics, things become more confusing. The supply of the token is also different. In Ethereum’s MEME, the total supply is 69 billion distributed in seven pools.
In Telegram’s MEME, we have 123 billion and the percentage distribution is also different.
Let us see the chart below for comparison:

I don’t know how to take these two different tokenomics. The distribution of Ethereum’s MEME is already done. How shall we take the additional 123 billion from Telegram’s MEME? Is this for real? Or is it just virtual? If we match the supply of Telegram’s MEME to the existing supply of Ethereum’s MEME, that will be 192 billion in total. How will this new addition affect the market price of MEME? Or can these two MEME tokens co-exist simultaneously without correlation to each other? What I am cautious to conclude is to consider one real and the other fake. I might be mistaken in my analysis. Those who know better can help enlighten me.
The Team
As for Ethereum’s MEME, 9GAG is the team behind the project. With TON’s MEME, it’s anonymous.
Moreover, we also see two different Twitter accounts. This Twitter account of Ethereum’s MEME has 2M followers and joined Twitter in April 2022.
Whereas the Twitter account of Telegram’s MEME was created this January 2024 and has 238,000 followers.
Coin Listing
Perhaps someone can identify more discrepancies between the two tokens. However, I think I am overdoing the task. It is enough to conclude with the listing of the tokens. The Initial Coin Offering (ICO) of Ethereum’s MEME was launched and completed last 28 October 2023. Source
In the case of Telegram’s MEME, it is yet to be listed.
Conclusion
What I find interesting in Telegram’s Tap-to-Earn game Memeland is its ability to gather all the nine Meme tokens in one place: MEME, DOGE, SHIB, PEPE, WIF, BONK, FLOKI, NOT, and BOME. If this is for real, I find it impressive.
Though I accept that it is possible for any token to exist in both the Ethereum and the TON blockchains such as in the case of GMEE, I could not avoid thinking that there is a possibility that Telegram’s MEME is another T2E product of a con artist. At least, in the case of GMEE, the relationship between Ethereum’s GMEE and TON’s GMEE is clear. Based on the data I acquired, I cannot say the same thing in the case of Telegram’s MEME.
This is the second time that I am making a renunciation of the content that I published in this post. Instead of describing Memeland as “promising,” I would now advise my friends to be extra cautious and at the same time to maintain an open mind.

Hindi ko alam kung paano uunawain ang dalawang magkaibang tokenomics na ito. Ang pamamahagi ng MEME ng Ethereum ay tapos na. Paano natin uunawain ang karagdagang 123 bilyon na nagmumula sa MEME ng Telegram? Totoo ba ito? O virtual lang? Kung idadagdag natin ang MEME ng Telegram sa kasalukuyang supply ng MEME ng Ethereum, iyon ay magiging 192 bilyon sa kabuuan. Paano maaapektuhan ng bagong karagdagan na ito ang presyo sa merkado ng MEME? O ang dalawang MEME token na ito ay maaaring magkasabay na umiral nang walang ugnayan sa isa't isa? Ayaw kong humantong sa premature na konklusiyon ng pagsasabi na ang isa ay totoo at ang isa ay peke. Baka magkamali ako sa analysis ko. Ang mga mas nakakaalam ay makakatulong sa akin upang ako ay maliwanagan.
Team
Malinaw ang team na nasa likod ng Ethereum MEME walang iba kundi ang 9GAG. Sa kaso ng TON MEME, hindi ito kilala.
Bukod dito, mayroon ding dalawang magkaibang Twitter accounts. Ang Twitter account na ito ng MEME ng Ethereum ay may 2M na tagasunod at sumali sa Twitter noong Abril 2022.
Samantalang ang Twitter account ng MEME ng Telegram ay ginawa nitong Enero 2024 at mayroong 238,000 followers.
Coin Listings
Marahil ay may makakatukoy ng higit pang mga pagkakaiba sa pagitan ng dalawang token. Gayunpaman, sa palagay ko ay humaba na ang artikulong ito. Bagama't tinatanggap ko na posibleng magkaroon ng anumang token sa parehong Ethereum at TON blockchains tulad ng kaso ng GMEE. Subalit, hindi ko maiwasang isipin na may posibilidad na ang MEME ng Telegram ay isang T2E product ng mga con artists. Sa kaso ng GMEE, ang relasyon sa pagitan ng GMEE ng Ethereum at GMEE ng TON ay malinaw. Batay sa data na nakuha ko, hindi ko masasabi ang parehong bagay sa kaso ng MEME ng Telegram.
Ito ang pangalawang beses na tinalikuran ko ang content na nai-publish ko sa post na ito. Sa halip na ilarawan ang Memeland bilang "promising," pinapayuhan ko ngayon ang aking mga kaibigan na maging mas maingat at kasabay nito ay magkaroon pa rin ng bukas na isipan.
