The first time I went to the beach I was about 16 years old. I got to know the sea thanks to my friend's family who invited me to vacation with them and then a couple more years passed before I was able to go on my own again. As a teenager of that age I felt "older" to do "kid stuff" like playing all those typical games that really looked fun but I didn't want to lose my "growing adult" image (how stupid hahaha). And today that I am truly an adult and at 27 years old I felt more childish than ever trying all those games and having an incredible afternoon with great people ❤️.
La primera vez que fui a la playa tenía como 16 años. Conocí el mar gracias a la familia de mi amiga que me invitó a vacionar con ellos y después pasaron un par de años más hasta que pude volver a ir por mi cuenta. Como adolescente de esa edad me sentía "mayor" como para hacer "cosas de niños" como jugar a todos esos juegos típicos que de verdad se veían divertidos pero yo no quería perder mi imagen de "adulto en crecimiento" (que estupidez jajaja). Y hoy que verdaderamente soy adulta y con 27 años me sentí más infantil que nunca probando todos esos juegos y pasando una increíble tarde con personas geniales ❤️.
Unfortunately, the fog that had been chasing us on our second day at the beach turned into rain on the third day. Of course we weren't going to be cooped up in the apartment we rented, so we put on our coats and headed out to explore downtown. None of us knew Pinamar so we went for a walk to see what we could find and one of the few things open that day was this game center.
Desafortunadamente, la niebla que nos estuvo persiguiendo en nuestro segundo día de playa se transformó el lluvia el tercer día. Por supuesto que no nos íbamos a quedar encerradas en el departamento que alquilamos, así que nos pusimos nuestros abrigos y salimos a recorrer el centro. Ninguna de nosotras conocía Pinamar por lo que emprendimos un paseo para ver con qué nos encontrábamos y una de las pocas cosas abiertas ese día fue este centro de juegos.
Between the low season and the gray day there was hardly anyone in this place, so we had everything available to us. The decoration seemed to have stayed in time: it had something of a retro space but at the same time well cared for and neat. The offer of games was quite wide, for adults and children. Surely in the summer this place is one of the most popular with families who decide to spend the summer there.
Entre la temporada baja y el día gris no había casi nadie en este lugar, así que lo teníamos todo disponible para nosotros. La decoración parecía haberse quedado en el tiempo: tenía algo de espacio retro pero a la vez bien cuidado y prolijo. La oferta de juegos era bastante amplia, para grandes y chicos. Seguramente en el verano este lugar es uno de los más concurridos por las familas que deciden veranear allí.
Among the games we played were the typical arcade games on the electronic machines. I had played several of these little games in their version for Play Station 1, so I knew the dynamics. My particular favorite was Metal Slug, so I played a game of that. Surprise, it didn't take me long to lose 😅.
Entre los juegos que jugamos estaban los típicos juegos arcade en las máquinas electrónicas. Yo había jugado a varios de estos jueguitos en su versión para Play Station 1, por lo que conocía la dinámica. En particular mi preferido era Metal Slug, así que jugué una partida de ese. Sorpresa, no tardé demasiado en perder 😅.
They also had a wide variety of Pinball machines. Again, I had already played this game in its digital version, but I rarely played it on the physical machine. This game may seem basic but there were a lot of designs and stories with music and lights. One of the ones I liked was one of The Addams Family that shook the board when hitting different obstacles.
También contaban con gran variedad de máquinas de Pinball. Nuevamente, yo ya había jugado a este juego en su versión digital, pero pocas veces lo hice en la máquina física. Este juego puede parecer básico pero había un montón de diseños e historias con música y luces. Uno de los que me gustó fue uno de Los Locos Addams que sacudía el tablero al golpear con diferentes obstáculos.
I also took a tour of the stuffed animal machine. I really don't believe in these machines because they usually don't work and when I see children all excited about getting something and the clamp is not capable of holding any doll, I get angry with the injustice of the world (haha I'm just exaggerating). But I do think that these machines are arranged to catch a doll every million tries and that only those with real luck manage to be that one and get something. Surprise again: I was not that someone 😅.
También me dí una vuelta por la máquina de los peluches. Realmente no creo en estas máquinas porque generalmente no funcionan y cuando veo niños todos ilusionados con sacar algo y la pinza no es capaz de sostener ningún muñeco, me enojo con la injusticia del mundo (haha solo exagero). Pero sí pienso que estan arregladas para sacar un muñeco cada un millón de fichas y que solo aquellos con verdadera suerte logran ser ese uno y sacar algo. Sorpresa de nuevo: yo no fuí ese alguien 😅.
And although I don't want to forget to mention that I gave my friend a tremendous beating while we were playing shuffleboard, the real protagonist of that afternoon was bowling. I had only ever bowled once in my life, and this was the second after many years so of course my shots were pretty off key at first. Guys, I have really skinny arms so throwing that heavy little ball is a bit of a struggle to me 😅.
Y a pesar de que no quiero dejar de mencionar que le dí tremenda paliza a mi amiga mientras jugabamos tejo, el verdadero protagonista de esa tarde fue el bowling. En toda mi vida solo había jugado bowling una vez, y esta fue la segunda después de muchos años así que por supuesto mis tiros estaban bastante desafinados al principio. Chicos, tengo brazos muy flacos así que arrojar esa pequeña y pesada bola me cuesta un poco 😅.
The bowling alley was quite large, there were two lanes and you could play in groups of up to 4 people. Each round had 10 turns per participant and in each one there were 2 shots available. My first few attempts were awful, but after a while I figured out what the technique was and even hit a few strikes. And far from any forecast, I won the entire game 😎. This was a real surprise 😂.
El bowling era bastante grande, había dos pistas y se podía jugar en grupos de hasta 4 personas. Cada ronda tenía 10 turnos por participante y en cada uno habían 2 tiros disponibles. Mis primeros intentos fueron malísimos, pero después de un rato encontré cuál era la técnica e incluso hice algunos strikes. Y lejos de cualquier pronóstico, gané la partida completa 😎. Esto sí fue una verdadera sorpresa 😂.

I think a pretty important and good component of this afternoon of playing was being an independent adult with money to pay for your own chips. Each one cost 50 ARS (0.25 USD), except for the bowling alley that cost 200 ARS (1 USD). It is true that money is not everything in life but it allows you to do great things. Surely in my adolescence I did not have the money that I have now and that is also why I was able to enjoy myself more. They are moments of life and I am glad that sooner or later I have been able to live it and have fun ❤️.
Pienso que un componente bastante importante y bueno de esta tarde jugando fue el hecho de ser un adulto independiente y con dinero para pagar sus propias fichas. Cada una costaba 50 ARS (0.25 USD), salvo la del bowling que costaba 200 ARS (1 USD). Es cierto que el dinero no es todo en la vida pero te permite hacer cosas geniales. Seguramente en mi adolescencia no contaba con el dinero que tengo ahora y también por eso pude disfrutar más. Son momentos de la vida y me alegro que tarde o temprano haya podido vivirlo y divertirme ❤️.
