Got to watch Superman at the local theater's midnight screening yesterday, July 9, 2025. It's a new experience going to a moviehouse in the middle of the night, where there are almost no moviegoers or lines of people at the ticket booth.
There were just 18 of us inside, so there were absolutely no distractions since the people are far apart, except for those who were with friends.
First time watching a movie since January 2020, when the last Star Wars movie came out. Was just curious about experiencing a midnight screening with free parking, no traffic going to and from the theater, and a generally cool and relaxed atmosphere inside the empty mall and all around the city.
Anyway, it's now time to check out the action figures.
Krypto was very cute and helpful throughout the film, and was essential in helping Superman overcome his obstacles. So this Krypto figure, even though it doesn't have any articulations, is welcome.
Superman's face plates are generally almost the same, except for the one with the heat vision.
Superman with Krypto is a McFarlane Toys release.
Nicholas Hoult as Luthor was exceptional. His performance will let you wish him all the misfortune in the world, and really root for the good guys. This McFarlane figure captures Hoult's likeness well enough. Nicholas is also known for playing Beast in X-Men movies and starred in the film Warm Bodies.
Metamorpho has been a favorite character since the 80s. So it's really good that he's in James Gunn's new DCU. The Mattel collect-and-connect action figure released in 2006 is hard to come by, so this movie representation is a welcome addition to the collection. Shown above are the McFarlane and Spin Master versions.
