I gotta say I swiped through some posts today, left and right, and although I can't call my feed over saturated yet, I feel like I'm no longer alone in my Hive virtual world. There is always something to pop my eyes out, or to make me open my notes app and note something down, an idea or a curiosity. Something worth pondering on, when getting back home, or dedicate a post to it. "Adequate Rewards Distribution" hit me today
...that being basically one of the toughest walls to break, as a newbie. I know, I'm talking again about rewards and newbies and I should probably stop now but, you know what, I wish there was someone like me, when I joined the platform, to break some of the myths that kept my handbrake pulled on my blogging progress and to wake me up. Someone that would not only write user guides on how to rock it in here but to splash some cold water in my face as well.
Now I don't know exactly how much HIVE is minted daily because I don't like numbers and stats, I guess about 900,000 per day, and don't know exactly how much of that is being spread around the platforms through rewards, weighing from one cent per post to tens of $ worth of upvotes, what I do know for sure is that there is no such thing as "adequate rewards distribution". The rewards pool is not adequate at all, and definitely not a given. We're not Hive's employees and there's no share of the pie cut equally, waiting for any of us on the way out, at the end of the day.
So, as a new user, looking at others payouts, drooling, comparing your shit payouts to giant whales, and try to figure out that how to, will only slow your progress as a blogger, vlogger, or whatever you feel like creating in here, because the rewards pool distribution simply has no logic and I guess wasn't even intended to have one. Post rewards are no automatic paychecks, at least not for the majority, and there isn't a way on how they should be distributed out of the rewards pool. It's somehow a mix of savanna fight for survival, tap on the shoulders, winning the lottery and sailing slowly on a peaceful calm lake... if you can imagine that as an analogy.
Once you get this, and jump over that self created wall of "adequate rewards distribution", as a new user, you will unlock mana potion level 2 and you're ready to rumble, and you might get lucky. I'm writing this because I don't want anyone to feel that they're entitled to getting x rewards per post, or that if Z or Y gets tons, you should and would get the same, or that if you hit the jackpot once, you will hit it every week. Nope, doesn't work that way...
And it's not about content. The rewards distribution has less, or almost nothing to do, with the content on the platform, so don't try and copy what X or Y is doing because you thought that would work or believe that's what the bosses like. It might work for him/her but, it might not work for you. You could try it, if you don't believe me but, ultimately content doesn't matter that much generally, and again... there's no such thing as "Adequate Rewards Distribution". Don't hate the game though, don't hate the players that you might see as circle jerking, because you know what, you would do the same. I guarantee it...
Human nature seems like being created to form groups, and communities and yes, ultimately...circle jerk groups as well, and that jerking seems to be the biggest frustration of new users when they discover it, and for some that frustration burns as a torch even for years, which is painful to hold if you ask me. It works the same way in real life as well. Almost all of us, when being kids especially, would borrow toys to our best mates, and avoid doing that with the ones outside the circle. Same here, there are formed groups of friends, some have invested heavily and bought their tokens from the market, and now make use of them HP and scratch each others backs, some have earned them and powered up everything and doing pretty much the same.
Your only option here, imo, is to try and inject yourself in such groups but, be careful not to hit the wall again, or try and form yours and at least have the peace of mind that you haven't wasted any opportunity, BUT don't expect anything from the rewards pool, especially if you haven't bought your own stake. There's no given and once you get that, the wall disappears and takes your frustration away. Don't blame the wall though, nor the game or the players. Such walls are everywhere, ever since Jesus was walking on this earth. They won't magically disappear. Do your thing, enjoy it, make friends, try it but, don't rely on it. We're not equal, haven't been born equal, and we don't ride the same donkey.
Don't quit though, dear new hiver! I haven't, he hasn't, she hasn't either. Jump the wall if you can't break it but don't let it knock your head and send you home.
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
