Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to appreciate having one day recently that was completely horrible in terms of health hahaha.

The Cheat
Every once in a while we need a break from things.. the key is to not let the break ruin the diligence!
The other day I was in a ripe mood, in that there was a bunch of things going on that were pretty intense. I ended up starting the morning out on the wrong foot and just said fuck it, and continued it throughout the damn day! LOL
I think having a day where we can cheat on being good at things like our diet, exercise and others is important, as long as we have the willpower to get back on track. This allows us to live a little, loosen up your pants if you will. It's one of the things that we should also be practicing for the various benefits it can give us.
When we go on these cheat days though, it's really important that we make them few and far in between so that it doesn't become a cycle and a habit. One of the worst things we can do is fall off the wagon so to speak, where we are good with our diet for a long time and then hit a weird patch where we are consuming shitty foods like crazy. That ain't good!
My cheat day the other day consisted of a donut in the morning, some cinnamon oatmeal, an extra cup of coffee for lunch, pasta for dinner and ended with 2 fingers of bourbon to top it all off. In terms of my normal routine, this not only is falling off the wagon, but it's falling off the wagon and a cliff at the same time hahaha it was wild. I enjoyed it for sure, but man am I feeling it a few days later!
I think it's important that we do these things every couple of months so that we get to enjoy it for a little bit, but we also have a long enough break between it that our body isn't used to the garbage anymore. My body was PISSED when I woke up the next day. I slept like shit, I had stomach issues during the day and I just felt way more tired than I normally do. That means that it really wasn't well worth it, to lose a day to the poor choices.
I think I'm glad that I am getting better at having self control and discipline. I have improved quite a bit over the last couple years, not that it was atrocious before either but more so to get my self control in check. I would often splurge and get a donut or a slice of cake because I was working a lot of the calories off with the actual work that I do. I would be up and down stairs all day, walking all over the place and being way more physically active than I am now. This meant that I was able to absorb and burn off quite a bit which is great, but it's not so great when you slow down physically.
It's been a really long time since I've had the day that I had in terms of choices, and I feel pretty good about that. I am hoping now that I did enjoy it, I can get another few months of consistency out of myself before I have another slip up!
What about you, do you try and maintain a fair bit of consistency in terms of your health and diet? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments!
