It was close to a year ago when I scored a sweet deal on a parts truck for my axle swap. The 2005 axles have made their way under my 1997 Ford F-350 and the driver couldn’t be much happier about the results. He says he will be driving it a lot more because he loves the smooth ride and the sharp turning radius. Dude is weird...trust me
So now I have an ‘05 extended cab Ford F-350 sitting on blocks on the side of the house. I had all intentions of continuing to pull parts off it and sell them but I honestly don’t have the time to go through all that. Pulling parts off, researching part numbers for a list of vehicles the part works on, then posting them on websites, then meeting with the buyers.... just more headache than I want to deal with. Plus I got what I want from it and I want it gone.

After contacting the local junkyard, I found out that they “recycle” vehicles. Well duh I am thinking in my head. Meaning they will pay you cash for whatever vehicle you bring in. Perfect!! Except this truck isn’t really able to roll onto a trailer... it’s missing those things called axles and those axles have those round thingies on the ends called wheels, that make it really nice to move the truck... I guess it’s time to devise a plan to get this truck outta here!!
Being that I sold the old front axle out of my 1997, I am only left with one axle. So a few weeks ago I rolled it across the front yard and placed it under the rear of the ‘05 and strapped it to the frame with some ratchet straps. Now the rear of the truck is able to roll but the front... ya not so much...
My initial plan was to do it like the Egyptians did when they moved those giant blocks. Lay 10 foot pieces of power poles on the ground and roll the truck across them. Moving the last pole to the front over and over. How funny would that have been. Lol. My neighbors already question the type of crazy stuff that goes on around here, why not give them something to really talk about right?
The idea i came up with is to use a crane and lift the front of the truck up and basically drag it up on the trailer. Well I don’t have a crane but I do have access to a Linetruck... Let the games begin!!
First borrow a car trailer from a buddy and back it up between the trees in the front yard with the Green Machine (2001 Ford Excursion 7.3L Powerstroke).

Then borrow the Linetruck and park it at a 45 degree angle across the front yard. Setup the outriggers, swing the boom around and lower the winch line.

Just drag it up on the trailer and Ta-Da it’s done... not really. We had to take it easy when walking it up the ramps. I didn’t want the truck to all the sudden roll forward fast and smash into the back of my Excursion.

Not all my ideas work the way they do in my mind, but this one actually did. The truck is on the trailer and I didn’t break or destroy anything... it’s a miracle!!

Oops almost forgot.... I have 8 wheels and tires I need to load up also. So I just picked up the front of the truck and stuffed them underneath it.

Now if I could get some time to haul this to the junkyard to get rid of it. You see they aren’t open on the weekends, and they close at 5pm... well I get off at 5pm... so I guess I will either have to take a couple hours off of work or wait until Friday when I have a day off. But we are working Fridays and I ain’t turning down that overtime!! Either way I am happy to have this truck loaded on a trailer and cleared out from the side of the house. One step closer.

I honestly have no idea how much money they will give me for this but as long as they take it off my hands I will be happy. I already got what I want off of it and sold enough parts to recover the purchase price of it so... it’s time to load it up and haul it off
