True Story of Desmond Doss who went to hellfire of battle in WWII without a single weapon to protect himself. He was armed with only his Bible and his powerful belief. Saved at least 75 lives on the hacksaw ridge and won the Congressional Medal of Honor, America's highest award for bravery and courage under fire.
After Band of Brothers, I was on the lookout for World War related stuff and I found this gem of a movie. So, I decided to make this.
here are some progress photos.
Used grid method for outlining as the photo was from a weird angle it was hard for me to judge proportions. Made too many details in outline itself.
1st hard part done, making a celebrity look like a celebrity is the hardest part of making a celebrity 😁.
look at the neck and collar 😭, this was the first time I was making fabric and it's actually harder than face or hair. The play of light and shadows gets me all tangled up. Saw a few videos on youtube for fabric shading but there is no good video for it.
now coming to the hardest part full fabric.
I nailed it 😤,took me around 8 hrs to shade from collar to this point. see the stitches in the sleeve.
This was perfect but then I ruined it with my impatience by hurriedly drawing the ridge, I should have taken a break but I just wanted to see it completed.
So, this is my homage to the makers of such a great movie. while the world loves Andrew for his spider-man, I adore him for portraying Desmond doss. hope you guys like it, if you have any suggestions please feel free to comment about drawing or presentation or anything.
watch this movie guys, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for Reading,
Ankush.
