As an aspiring artist on a journey to revive my drawing skills, I decided to challenge myself by sketching Squidward's face, the iconic character from SpongeBob SquarePants. Follow along as I share my step-by-step process:
Step 1: Gathering Supplies
I gathered my sketchbook, few pencil (Nigerian Pencils), a blade, an eraser, and a reference image of Squidward.
Step 2: Basic Shapes
Starting with a light hand, I drew an oval for the head and added guidelines to mark the eyes, nose, and mouth positions.

Step 3: Eyes and Nose
I focused on Squidward's distinct eyes, creating elongated half-oval shapes with smaller circles inside for pupils. Then, I carefully added his long, slender nose using curved lines.
Step 4: Mouth and Facial Details
With gentle strokes, I outlined his downturned mouth, paying attention to its curved shape. Next, I added his wrinkles, defining Squidward's signature grumpy expression.

Step 5: Fine-tuning
Referring to my reference, I refined the lines, adjusting proportions and details, ensuring symmetry between both sides of the face.
Step 6: Erasing Guidelines
Using my eraser, I gently removed the initial guidelines, leaving behind the refined sketch of Squidward's face.
Step 7: Shading and Final Touches
To give depth and dimension, I lightly shaded areas around the eyes and under the nose, following the reference for guidance. Finally, I added subtle shading to create depth and enhance realism.
