Welcome back to emanate artworx! Finally, it's time to look at the fourth and final painting in my 4-part acrylic painting study series. This one is based on a reference from Balabac, Philippines.
What a beautiful view 🥲. One day, I would love to visit a scenic beach like this to admire the sunset in person. But until then, I'll do my best to recreate it on the canvas and visit in my imagination. When I look at this painting, I can almost hear the gentle waves rolling onto the shore👂🏝.

This one might be the best out of the series. There's something about the reflection of the sunlight onto the water's surface that is just very appealing to my eyes. For this part, I took my time and was deliberate with building up the brushstrokes to ensure I wasn't overworking the piece and losing the dimension of light reflecting on the slightly uneven surface of the water.
While this study has its strengths, like the clouds that have a nice glowing quality, suggesting a back-lit effect from the sun, it also has room for improvement in some areas. Even though I changed the color of the trees a couple times, they could still be darker! But overall, this painting is not too shabby.
This was an enjoyable series to paint. As some of you already know, I don't live anywhere near the ocean 😆, so these beach paintings were a good test of my skills as a way to effectively use references to make a convincing scene.
I've made and shared a number of studies now, and it seems like the time is right to step it up a notch and create a finshed piece. It's summertime here where I live, and it's actually the busiest time of year for my work life. That means I have more limited time to work on my passion (creating artworks) compared to the cooler seasons. However, I won't let that deter me! I have so many ideas to bring to life 🥹.
